Wonderful little product! Great sound, holds a ton, and gets the job done. Not to mention Zune-pass...thats a must have. Beats the hell out of paying a dollar per song, like you will with an ipod.

Love the product, our home now has four of them. My only disappointment is that the Zune is not complatible with sound systems equipped with iPod connection. But we cant have everything our way.

ok, ive had 4 of these ( 3 got stolen). the software is way simpler than an ipod. all of the problems the ppl that gave this device 1 star, ive had with an ipod. all of my friends used to borrow my current 1 b4 i graduated, even if they had their ipod, just because it is easier to use. amazing device, better software. i will b buying more

I have owned my 4g Zune for just over a year now, and cant add much more than all of the other reviews, but want to give at least one warning: mine broke after a year of using it while jogging.
The back of the player is aluminum, which sounds like a good idea at first for durability. But as an avid runner in the Texas heat, the aluminum started dissolving from exposure to the perspiration of my body. I was using the Griffin Streamline Armband for Zune 4/8GB (Black) armband that I thought was protecting my Zune. As it turns out, it was encasing it in a tomb of moisture that eventually ate away at the metal backing due to the corrosive moisture that is a result of perspiration. So even though this may sound like an armband problem, it is important to note that my iPod Shuffle has no such issues, and after 5 years of use, is still solid.
So if you use the Zune for workingout, I HIGHLY recommend that you make sure you do NOT use a fully enclosed case that doesnt allow the body of the player to breathe. The thin backing just cant handle the elements.

Syncing just flows and I just dont stop using my Zune pass. Pretty ok for the cost too! I have alrdy started filling it with my favorites. 20 songs n 3 videos alrdy in! Video playback is flawless.

I bought this for my girlfriend 2 years ago to replace her second broken nano. She has loved this. Battery life is still great. Holds charge very well. She uses it at least every other day to run with.
Positives:
-great battery life
-easy, intuitive functionality of the menus
-the included head phones are actually pretty decent
Negatives:
-even after several updates, the Zune software leaves something to be desired. Still cannot drag files from folders into the program (despite both being microsoft products)
-no equalizer. This was almost a deal breaker buying it. Fairly satisfied with automatic settings

I love this MP3; take it to the gym, at work, and even around the house. It is simple to use and doesnt take too long to throw and song on it and begin playing it. It is small enough for your shirt pocket or even an armband. The design is very durable and very well made. I LOVE THAT THE LCD IS GLASS, finally not making a cheap screen is a HUGE plus. Built-in FM tuner, wireless sharing and syncing makes this device 100% worth it, ALSO so easy to connect to the XBOX 360 which makes playing games with your songs playing so much more relaxing. The software as I said earlier is very simple and easy to install and putting songs is a simple drag and drop. Battery life is great, I have been able to play nonstop for a about 22 hours before it died. I do have some cons though, it does get annoying using the touch sensitive control only cause sometimes it scrolls past something you wanted to play and it is a back and forth motion just to try and get that song you wont, so in truth the touch might not be for everyone (yes you can change sensitivity but still doesnt help 100%, I like just clicking to my next song).

I was in the market for a MP3 player, which is a purchase I dread. Ive gotten plenty of pieces of junk like Coby, SanDisk, etc., so this time I decided to buy the 5th generation I-Pod Nano, mainly because it has an FM tuner. Then, I stumbled on a good deal with the 4gb Zune. I was reluctant, but after doing extensive reviews on the IPOD, I found the 5th gen Nano gets a fair amount of criticism, which I wont get into. I decided to go for the Zune. So far, after only a month of use, its been a great experience!
The player seems to operate very well. Its responsive and simple to use. The only issue I had initially was getting the battery charged fully. This turned out to be more of an issue with my own impatience. Just a FYI, the battery life with Zune should NOT vary much with an IPOD because it basically the same type. Provided you dont have WIFI on.
I really like the software. Its attractive and functions well. Ive read where people say it crashes, but Ive never experienced it. I wish it had a better song rating system. It only allows a like or dislike option. The best thing is, I got a Zune Pass for $15/month and have downloaded tons of music I would NEVER have risked purchasing, I get 10 songs per month, AND Ive had such a good experience Im buying my girlfriend a Zune so she can do the same. Zune Marketplace allows 3 computers and 3 players to be resisted to 1 account.
Now the cons. Well, the most annoying thing is that I cant find accessories anywhere. I have to buy things online because IPOD is so dominate. Second, the warranty was not correct. When I registered my Zune, the warranty said it was out. I worked with Zune support, which was actually very good, and they reestablished my warranty AND gave me an extra year for my trouble.
So far... Ive had a good experience. I wish Microsoft would have a product line though. When I go into Best Buy all you can find is the ZuneHD. Its a great product, but I dont need everything that thing has to offer.

honrstly I thought that the 8 GB would last longer than the 4 GB, after 4 hours it just dies. I work nights xo I really depend on my music to get me through, I even let it charge all gay while I sleep. S o whats a girl to do?

Bought product for my wife, she is pleased with the operation and sound quality. Definetly a step up from run of the mill players.Touch senitive pad was found to be distracting and inexact. I changed to manual change mode. Will probably buy one for myself in the near future.

Love this Zune! My first mp3 player. Easy to use. Only one glitch syncing as I am not the most computer literate person but adding a teenager sped up the whole process. He is an itunes and ipod junkie since that is what he is most comfortable with. (All of his friends have them.)He is loving my Zune though and how it sounds. Even with it being pink, my husband, a Marine likes it so much he wants to take it on business trips with him which means I get a NEW pink, larger capacity ZUNE! I have NUMEROUS kids and they have dropped this, stepped on it, sat on it and it runs like a champ. No scratches or marks. I keep in an arm band when I work out. Amazed at the durability.
