I simply set this to my USB port to do a backup on a reguler basis and it is very easy. Some want to save images, copy movies, or basically do anything that they want to do on their computer without messing up the internal hard drive. Of course I am a computer geek so it is easy for me, but if you are learning, it is getting much easier.

The hard drive came in an orderly fashion. upon receipt, installation was as easy as placing it into my harddrive tray on my laptop. After that, i reinstalled my operation system. The drive is really quiet and cool running, and my computer is actually faster now that ive replaced the stock drive in it. I would recommend this drive to anyone looking for a reliable replacement SATA drive for your laptop.

I used this for my XBOX 360 as a replacement hard drive for my old 60GB. This has faster RPMs and more space. Great buy if your looking to add more space to your laptop or xbox.

I bought this drive as a birthday present for my son as the original drive that came with the notebook crashed and burned in less than 6 months. The drive is now in a Pavillion dv7 series HP notebook. I watched the video from Western Digital on how to change the drives out. It took me about 15 minutes to switch the drives - I was having trouble with the screws on the notebook, nothing to do with the drive itself. It was very easy to install and Im no computer repair expert. I am impressed with this drive as it runs quietly, just as advertised, and is much faster than the original HP drive. I have used Western Digital drives for years in my desktop computers. I had to use the warranty on one drive a while back and WD replaced the drive, no questions asked. If youre looking for a quality drive that is moderately priced with a great warranty, this is the drive for you. I plan to put another WD 500GB drive in the secondary bay soon. I believe you will be just as impressed as I am with this drive for its smooth, quiet running and ease of installation and set up. It works right out of the box. WD ROCKS!!!!!

Ran out of room on my 40 Gig PS3 and have been looking at this for awhile. Finally pulled the trigger on the 500 Gig. If you have an external USB harddrive bigger than what you have on your current PS3 drive, it is very easy to transfer data to it and then back to new hard drive. Sony makes the process simple.
Works great, quieter, and love having the space to do whatever I want and not have to think about how much space I have left. Make sure you have the latest PS3 firmware first. Have not noticed any slowdown whatsoever. If anything it seems to be a little smoother with the extra space.

This internal drive worked perfectly for upgrading my original model PS3. The installation is easy, assuming you have a small enough screwdriver, and it takes no more than ten minutes or so, including research. It has functioned perfectly since. Youll spend more time backing up and restoring your old data than getting this beauty to work perfectly, so if youre looking to expand that hard drive, definitely consider this product! A++

This is the 4th Scorpio 500Gb that Ive received. I bought 2 of them for RAID 1, but one went out. i got the replacement and that went out. Now I have the 3rd one. If this doesnt work, then Im switching to another drive.
I have no complaints other than 2 crashed on me. No data was lost.
Id recommend getting a solid state drive if you can afford it. I dont really feel like paying $3400 for two 500GB SSDs right now, so Im just going with two of thess. $3400 is just a bit too expensive for me.
Despite everything its a quiet, decent drive.
4 stars.

Was tired of dealing with only 60 GB with my PS3 hard drive. Was told by a friend that this Scorpio Blue 500 GB works really well, is faster and quieter. So far so good on how its working out. Will never have to worry about lack of space ever again. Now Ill be able to do the full install of Gran Turismo 5 when it comes out.

Ive had the hard drive for several weeks now. It works very well in my MacBook (MacBook2,1) as a replacement for the 120GB 5400rpm drive that came with the original notebook. It doesnt seem to be louder or consume significantly more power, despite what some of the other reviews has suggested. Installation was O.K. since you can look up the instructions online. I think the upgrade was well worth it.

I needed a bigger drive than the stock 80GB in my Mac Mini and this one (500GB Scorpio Blue) fit the bill. I was hesitant at first due to all the negative reviews about reliability and noise but for the price, I was willing to take a chance. Ever since the install, I have not heard any clicking noises from the drive and its about 2 feet from me. I hear alot more drive park clicking from my Lenovo laptop, which is normal according to the WD tech I called about this issue. So far so good. Ive been keeping a backup of everything and will update my review if anything goes wrong. So at the moment, I highly recommend this drive. The packaging was adequate but interesting b/c there were no seals to break to open the box but luckily for me, the drive was still inside.

So far so good with this drive. Only problem Ive come across is an incessant clicking, about once every 5 seconds, which seems to be the drive head parking. This happens under windows7 and linux ( this laptop is set up to dual boot ). Can be irritating in a quiet room.

I ordered this to replace the paltry 160 gb hard drive in my HP Mini 210 Atom-powered (powered?) netbook and it installed easily.
Make sure you have back up disks to reinstall Windows. I burned a set of back up discs using the built-in program installed on the HP Mini but they didnt work - despite the utility program supposedly running a verification program after burning. Oh well, I found a disk from another netbook and used that for the reinstallation.
Now my little netbook can hold some FILES!
Packaging (your site Frustration Free bulk oem) was safer than their unfortunate foray into no packaging last year.

very good drive for the price. Replaced my failed PS3 drive with it, no longer restricted to the 20 gig it came with.
Shame I lost all of my data on the PS3 but oh well. Setup was a snap, had the ps3 back up and running in minutes. For anyone looking to upgrade their ps3 to a much larger drive, this one is very good value for money.
