All the drawbacks I read about were just minor considerations when I view the whole package. It all depends on your needs and they meet mine near perfectly. I dont need the nth degree of audio quality, so a nice well defined and crisp sound at mid-level volume is great.(I listen mostly to Jango, Pandora and free internet radio, so I assume theyd be fine for TV as well.) They allow a little outside sound to pass so I can tell if something loud might need my attention (i.e.- angry wife). Theyre acceptably comfortable and the range is quite good. Different building materials used in your dwelling will change that range for the better or worse. Very easy to use once you get the frequency set and get the feel of them. I have none of the problems with the volume and tuning knob I saw mentioned. Yes, without a sound source theyll shut off. Thats what the on/off switch is for. Im in the habit of switching them off every time I lay them down anyway, just to conserve battery life.
The most important plus for me is that I was lucky enough to be cheap and didnt spring for the 120s. I discovered that where I want the sending unit would have made placing the phones on it to charge very inconvenient. The other plus here that I can see... if the rechargeable 120s die, they have to go back on the charging stand, right? With the 110s, I just pop in a new set of batteries and keep on listening. (Im using the new hybrid rechargeable batteries with great results.) Overall, just a great buy at this price point!

I am not much for reading the instructions when I buy something, and these headphones worked perfectly out of the box. However, I almost returned them when the transmitter base station power went off and I couldnt figure out how to turn it back on. I tried plugging the AC adapter into several outlets before I finally figured out that the transmitter turns itself on only when it detects that there is sound coming from the output source (in my case the TV), and turns itself off when there is no sound.

I have purchased 3 generations now of these headphones.
RS 4 was OK but the headband broke too easily.
RS 45 (HDR 40) was basically the same and also broke too easily.
Both of these models had reception range problems where you could not use them beyond 20 feet without noise. I also have the HDR 45 (auto tune) headphone version, which cut the noise, but had even shorter range.
All of the above use the same small proprietary BA151 battery.
This battery is the shortfall of the system as it has limited capacity and expensive to replace. (I soldered a 2xAA or 2xAAA battery pack with leads to an old BA151 shell to extend their usability.)
My new RS 110 is a much improved design. The headband seems to be much more robust. The ear pieces are larger, however. The ability to use 2xAAA rechargeable batteries is a big plus. The transmitter and receiver have been redesigned to work much better. Much longer range, and less noise. There is some noise, as with any radio, but much better than previous versions. I would not recommend using old headphones with a new transmitter or vise versa. It looks like Sennheiser listened to users and fixed the problems with earlier versions, both mechanical and electrical. I recommend the RS 110 version. (The RS110 ships with alkaline batteries, but I would use rechargeable batteries. Or you could go with the RS 120 model. I wanted to recharge the batteries in a charger.)

Excellent quality and sound. Only compaint is they are too big for a little head (too wide mostly). They will even slide off your head easily if you have normal size head. Idea for a product: Make a base transmitter like this one and small receiver with AA battery that clips to your belt and you can attach ANY headphone.

These wireless headphones are a very good product. I believe the sound quality is very good, with fine clarity and rich bass. Note, I probably dont have the ears of a true audiophile, but I do care a great deal for sound quality. What I appreciate most is that the noise level on the wireless link is very low, nearly beneath notice unless I consciously listen for it. Although I usually listen from within 10-15 of the transmitter, I can walk all around the house without noticeable reduction in sound quality, and I have gone all the way out of my garage into my driveway, certainly more than 40 away from the transmitter, while still getting good sound. I have some of the usual RF systems going at my house, but Ive never noticed any interference. The headphones are lightweight and the over-ear pads are comfortable even after many hours of continuous use. I also get many hours out of a set of batteries. My only complaint is minor: Id have gladly accepted a few extra ounces to use cheaper, longer lasting AA batteries vs. the AAA. I have occasionally had the headphones fall off my head when Ive tried to wear them while doing a few chores, but I dont fault the product for that. I have had other wireless headphones, and RS110s are far superior to those.

Easy set-up even for a non-electronic person like me. No more having to turn the tv down so low I cant hardly hear it after the wife goes to bed. Sound is very good for such a low price headphone. Very nice stereo sound. I can even hear without static when I walk outside more than 50ft away from it.

I have had one of these for years. It has recently been acting up, so this is a replacement. That alone should tell you how much I enjoy these headphones. I havent set up the new one yet, as I am waiting for thr final brath of the old one. Since it is exactly the same, I dont anticipate any problems. Great product. I use it on the TV. If you leave the sound on the TV turned up, its like surround sound. If you turn the sound off, you can watch TV without disturbing others.

I like these headphones overall, sound quality, comfort, battery life etc.
However, one thing that is REALLY annoying is that when they go into idle mode (which happens after 30 or so seconds of no sound coming from the output)
the sound changes to a loud fussing sound, the kind you hear on old TVs when you have it on a static channel.
So if you were listening to a song or something, playing loud, then kept browsing the internet after it ends, you have to remember to turn the headphones off or it will BLAST you with one of the most annoying sounds in the universe, loud as heck.

very pleased with these headphones---great sound--easy to use----
although remanufacured, they look new. Other reviews mentioned that the charger went off if not used for a few min. I find this to be one of the advantages---dont have to get out of bed to turn it off & its easy enough to turn on again. Good product !!

This device is excellent; I was a little apprehensive during the purchasing due to the price but the sound is neat and with a long range of functionality. I can be all over the house without losing any of its quality. Im not rating the lifespan of the batteries because I just bought it a couple of weeks ago but so far so good.

the headphones work fine, were easy to set up and use.......my only beef is this
(and its probably the TVs fault) is that i must leave the sound on low ( but not too low or it shuts off)
if i mute tv then i mute sound in the headset.......if you turn the volume all the way down the unit
automatically turns off

I bought these re-manufactured headphones for $32.....what a steal. The day after I bought them, the price jumped to $55. They basically look brand new. They come in a plastic bag and bubble wrap with a Sennheiser re-manufactured lable on them. The headphones are amazing. Sound quality is top notch and the headphones are comfortable to wear. What a deal!

Instead of a small room home theatre speaker system and DVD player under $200 on special at the shops at Dandenong here in Australia, and because I already have a DVD recorder connected with the high quality $20 yellow/red/white AV leads to the TV, and also the standard digital set top box with the high quality $20 AV leads to the TV, I decided to get these headphones wired with the gold AV connectors that plug on the back of the TVs audio out AV terminals: The digital sound quality from the TV channels are absolutely clear and full of background sounds like birds whistling and squeaky doors closing, while voices from actors sound like their mouths are close to your ears. Just need a little magical skill in fine-tuning the dial button with your finger to get no hissing sound.

These phones are a remarkable value. The sound quality is excellent and I get perfect reception anywhere in my large 3-story home. Unless you are going to use them for many hours each day, the disposable batteries work just fine (Im still on my first set); you will save enough over the rechargeable rs-120 model to buy batteries for a long time or you can use rechargeable AAs. Otherwise, the rs-110 and rs-120 models seem identical.
I had been using a set of Rocketfish cordless phones that cost twice as much and bought these for a second viewer. But I now use the Sennheisers as they are lighter, have less clamping pressure, have better range and better sound. A very nice but unadvertised feature is the ability to switch between 3 frequencies in the event your neighbor also has a pair of these. Some reviewers have complained about the static heard when there is no input signal to the base station but that hasnt been an issue for me since I always turn on my audio/TV system before donning the phones.

I read as many reviews as I could for various headphones. There were several that seemed to have overwhelmingly positive reviews. I chose the one that seemed to have the most features for a reasonable price. The headphones are a little bulky but comfortable and not heavy. I have to be careful about leaning over because they fall off easily. Thats my problem, not a flaw with the headphones. I put them on late in the evening and both I and my neighbors are happy. I can definitely recommend them.

Other than the sound cutting out from normal cell phone interference, these are great. The sound comes back instantly, wish that could be eliminated. These are still the best of all brands I tried.
