We bought this MP3 player for my daughters birthday. She didnt drop it or otherwise mis-handle it. It was easy to use, sound quality was fine, worked great...for 8 months. Then it completely died. The screen went black, with a jagged white stripe on it, and there was no more sound. Since it was still under warranty, we contacted Sansa customer service, they asked us to take pictures of it (which we did), and they replaced it. All well and good, but guess what? After 9 months, the REPLACEMENT unit died. No sound, no nothing. Now, of course, the warranty is over so we cant get another replacement. And interestingly, my daughters co-worker had the identical MP3 player, and IT died. My daughter previously had an iPod, which had to be replaced three times while under warranty, but we figured that because the Sansa is a device without a fragile hard drive, this would be a better option. So now...we dont want to buy an iPod, and have little faith in another Sansa Fuze. Were going to take the chance on it, but...buyer beware. And if this one turns out to be as unreliable as the last, thats the last Sansa product we will ever buy.

I had been hunting for a replacement for my older Sansa Connect MP3 player w/ wi-fi to something equal or better and in my budget range. After a few hours of clicking between models and looking at specs I kept coming back to the SanDisk Sansa Fuze 4 GB Video MP3 Player (Black). I could have gone up to the 8 gig model but being on a strict budget I went with the 4 gig model and purchased an SanDisk 8GB microSDHC (SDSDQ-8192) Memory Card w/Adapter (Bulk Package) plus got the adapter pack that came with an auto adapter, home adapter, sansa cable, a nice cover skin that sticks to your hand and a belt clip and armband. All this was well inside my budget and I trust Sansa products so thats what I got. It came almost at light speed in 3 separate orders and I got busy loading videos, music, Podcasts right away. This player comes with FM radio which replaced the wi-fi my Sansa Connect had, the wi-fi on the Connect also forced you to Yahoos music service which was a monthly fee. The wi-fi on this Connect is a long story so I will spare you, other than to say I got ripped off as it started out as free Internet Radio.
Anyway if your on a budget and want something easy to use and fun to have get this unit. Ive used the video option on this unendingly. I just got a John Wayne movie for this player to add to other John Wayne movies Ive gotten. They have so many movies on the net its unreal. They may not be the newest movies, but if you like old movies they have them. And with the Sansa Media Converter, which is free, you can convert all your movies to the Fuze format without fail. I also use the music player for all my Old Time Radio broadcasts. Nothing like a Jack Benny show to put you in a good mood. lol
Again this unit is well worth buying, even if your on a budget.

Wow! What a great little MP3 player!! I had an old Sansa from several years ago. We are taking a long airplane ride, and thought I would splurge and get one of these to help while away the trip. WOW! It is great!! I have TONS of great songs downloaded and they sound great. I also LOVE the video playback. I about went nuts trying to figure out HOW to transfer video to the player (downloaded a dvd to avi converter-free online) then was able to transfer video to an avi file, that to the sansa media converter, and finally to the player itself. WHEW!! But it did work, and it will definitely keep me occupied while in route! This little baby is sturdy, too. It loaded tons of my favorite pictures as well. I LOVE IT!!

The Fuze is just weighty enough to make it feel right. The controls are responsive and non-flimsy feeling. Even putting too much pressure on the case, it doesnt seem like its going to break. The screen is clear and very bright. The front part of the case is shiny and sometimes gets finger prints while the back is rubberized for grip.

I bought mine to work with Ford (Microsoft) Sync in a model year 2011 vehicle. Connected to the cars USB port, the Fuze works perfectly - even charging while connected. I can access all the music from the cars stereo. No problems with it showing up when running GNU/Linux (Debian with 2.6.32-5-amd64). The only minus is that Sync doesnt yet support Ogg music (maybe a firmware update will fix this), while the Fuze does support Ogg music.

I switched the Fuze to show up as a mass storage device (MSC USB mode), then I put music in the MUSIC folder with a file manager. It also seems to work with Amarok (v2.3.1) in the (MTP USB mode).

A big plus is that while it may be inspired by the iPod, its not an iPod. I dont like the Apple dependence on iTunes. The Fuzes support of MSC mode, expansion slot, Ogg and MP3 music support and non-dependence on iTunes all put it a step above the iPod for my needs.

    Sansa Fuze v2 Review

My quest for a personal media player finally came to an end when I found the Sansa Fuze from SanDisk.

It came standard with the player it self, USB cable, headphones, velvet case, a quick start guide and a few marketing prints.

    Listening impressions
Before I begin, Id like to mention that this is Version 2 of the Fuze. Currently using firmware 2.01.17P which is the latest version 2.x firmware available from Sansa. I will not cover the hardware, software aspects of the Fuze anymore as theyre all over the internet. I also made a video of the User Interface, should anyone be interested.

I was able to listen to the Fuze and its accompanying earphones briefly. I didnt like it as it sounds tinny, too-digital, and lacks life.

At this point, version of the firmware is 2.01.09. Having said that, it lacks the drive to satisfy me when driving my AKG-240s (91dB, 55 ohms), so I have to drive the 240s thru either the FiiO E3 or E5. Using that combination, I dont think I am hearing the Fuze in its purity.

Later in the evening, I was able to upgrade to firmware 2.01.17P and while there were some added features, i.e., Sleep mode, it was a bump in loudness that I appreciated. The upgrade went without a hitch and was damn easy to screw up.

I ripped some of my CDs to MP3 320k, which includes Roxette, Skid Row, Cinderella, Grand Funk Railroad, .38 Special

    Fuze -> AKG-240s

While not being able to drive the 240s into deafening levels, its loud enough to be satisfying. I had the EQ set to Normal as I found the other presets to be very unlikeable.

Ok, dont accuse me of driving the 240s without an amp I just want hear how it will sound.

Firstly, I like the 240s for its midrange characteristic. Driven by my WE417 headphone amp, I believe they sound very well. With te Fuze driving it, it does retain the midrange character, with enough bass and top end shimmer. The Fuze wont cause the 240s drivers to really pump hard even with rock music. Its good, but not something that would make me say Wow!

Headstage is decent, couple with very good separation. Despite the lack of power, it did not sound muddied and I can still hear enough bass articulation and details. But surely, I long for more dynamics and only a dedicated amp can provide that.

    Fuze -> Koss KSC-75

Firstly, since I changed the foam pads of my KSC-75 (101dB, 60 ohms), it seems to sound lighter (less bass) and theres nothing much I can do about it as I failed to order replacement pads when I ordered the Fuze.

Having said that, the Fuze can drive the KSC-75 to a satisfying level, and depending on the ripped material, could be loud. In Normal EQ, the over-all sound is satisfying.

The midrange sounds digital but not annoying. The highs have the tendency to be annoying at times, specially with poor source encoding. The bass is decent and snappy, never muddied, but lacks depth. On the Roxette tracks (It must have been love, Listen to your heart, etc.) I long for the depth on the lower octave.

Overall, the sound quality is good enough for me, until...

I played with the Custom EQ...

With the Custom EQ set to my preferences for the KSC-75, I can now mutter Wow! I was able to bring in bass depth, without muddying it and impacting the mids. I was able to make the KSC-75 sound warmer and less digital. This EQ is very good! Listening to Cinderella and Skid Row, unamplified, can bring me to a head-banging experience.

Now I wish Sansa would dump all the presets and give us 5 custom presets in the next firmware update. Ill post this at the Sansa forum so they could consider it.

Alright, I have this item and I have to say I really liked it because I love music and Im almost never in my home so this was a good way to carry my music with me. I think I was testing a little the durability of this product because I used it like 2 hours each day, this mp3 player not lasted even a year, I have like 8 months with it and now the middle circle (where you adjust the volume level) doesnt works! Making me unnable to change songs or adjust the volume. So, if you want an mp3 player for less than a year buy this but be warned, youll maybe need another one in 9 months.

This Sansa Fuze is the second in our family. My husband has an 8 GB. I find the 4GB plenty big enough due to the little slot for external storage (micro SD card). It permits just another way to separate music type. We recently used it on a self guided tour of Italy. We downloaded walking tours from Rick Steves website (guide books were purchased at the best price from your site). The player has a much appreciated pause button. As to sound quality, that depends on the ear phones you use. The little lightweight ones dont give great fidelity but are so easy to carry! At home, I use a heaver set that results in great sound. The player can be re-charged internationally (as can a cell phone) as long as you have the inexpensive plug adapter.

Bought for my 11yr old. She likes it a lot better than her older model (and cheaper) Sansa. It is easier for her to use and download songs to. Only complaint is that the battery life doesnt seem to be that long. Ive told her to just plug it in each night to charge - and we bought a wall charger because it wasnt fully charging when we plugged it into the computer.

I thought this was a great price and it is if you dont want any advanced features. I was looking specifically for fast play. This unit only supports 1.2x play for audio files only. No video play speed option. Then on top of that, the 1.2x isnt pitch corrected so voices become all chimp monk like.

Get this if you just want a plain player at a good price, but dont expect too much more.

I bought this player to be able to download audio books from my library. I had some difficulty doing this, but did eventually accomplish it. I had to download Overdrive software and use that in combination with the sansa software. First I had to download a book to my computer, then plug in the Sansa & use its software to sync with the computer to get the book on the sansa. For anyone who loves audio books, but doesnt want the expense of buying them just to listen to them once, check with your library. This is a great way to hear audio books for free. You get them for 21 days, like checking out a book. I also love the FM radio option and am looking forward to getting a slot Radio card of oldies songs. I havent used the recording feature yet, but I tested it & it works perfectly. The earbuds are the first ones Ive ever got with a device that actually stay in my ears without falling out. The sound is good.
If anyone orders the accessories & gets that weird little belt clip with absolutely no directions on how it works, heres a clue: the little round part that attaches to the back of the sansa case comes off by UNSCREWING it. I tried everything I could think of to get it apart, including prying with a screwdriver, which broke half of it off and stabbed my finger. Fortunately, the clip still works, even with half of it broken off. I wish they would send directions with this stuff on how it works. Not all of us innately know.

I have a large music collection downloaded on a windows media program on my desktop computer. All I really had to do with this device was plug it in to the port and it started copying everything in my media library. I unplugged and was on my way! It is also very clear how to use the features such as volume control, picking a single album to listen to or having it play by song name automaticly. I know it comes with other features, video, radio, etc. but for music alone its worth the price, easy to use, And for someone who isnt plugged into the electronic generation, its a breeze to understand without puzzeling over endless instructions!

I received this today and I am impressed.

The feel is much more solid and of excellent quality than I expected.

Sound quality is very good. The equalizer is very welcomed. Menus are clear and easily learned. Graphics are a bit dated but thats the only downside.

It synched easily with my PC as soon as I plugged in the cable. This ease could be due to Windows 7, however. I have noticed 7 is much better at self recognizing and installing new devices.

The FM radio works surprisingly well. This is the first player/phone I have ever tried that actually works as an FM listening device.

I purchased this player refurbished thru an your site store and it came looking and working as if brand new.

Okay, so Im 49 years old, but Ive been in IT most of my life so I should know *almost* as much about technology as your average teenager. But I just cant understand why anyone would need anything more than this Sansa mp3. It is incredibly easy to use, very portable, and has every function I can think of needing in an mp3. Setup couldnt be any easier, since there is nothing to install, just plug it into your USB port and Windows Media Player (and I presume iTunes) will automatically recognize it and open your sync folder that you drag your songs into. Press sync now and your done.

Durability is fantastic, Ive had the 2GB version of this device for several years now and have had no issues. Battery life is fantastic, I once forgot to turn it off on a Friday afternoon and it was still running Monday morning. Very sleek and thin and easy to carry.

I got a refurbished one but when I got it, I was very surprised, it was like new. The sound quality is great and I am very happy with this unit. I strongly suggest buying the refurbished units when it comes to most electronics because I have experienced that they are as good as brand new ones with half the price. I hope this helped your buying decision.
