AVIC FEEDS for iPhone now available

Unleash the power of your Pioneer navigation system with the AVIC FEEDS for iPhone application. Find a destination, then transfer it to your Pioneer navigation system for turn-by-turn routing.

    Bridge the Gap
Start Planning your route before you even step into your car with the free AVIC FEEDS app. Now you can seamlessly use your iPhone with your Pioneer navigation receiver. Simply find your destination with the built-in Google Maps interface and transfer it via Bluetooth for easy, turn-by-turn directions.

    Picture Yourself There
The AVIC FEEDS app also allows you to use the geo-tag data in your photos to be routed directly to places youve visited. The built-in GPS feature of iPhone 3G and 3GS has the ability to embed geo-tag information in the photos you take with its camera. AVIC FEEDS allows you to save destinations by reading these geo-tags. You can also use AVIC FEEDS to create destinations from geo-tagged photos that are sent to your iPhone.

Ditch the Headset with Built-in Bluetooth

Take incoming calls through the AVIC-Z110BT, and be heard clearly without a headset courtesy of Bluetooth technology. Connecting your compatible phone is easy and gives you instant touch screen access to your contacts. You can also dial a contact with the sound of your voice by simply saying Call Jack Smith.

    Customize and Colorize

This all-new AVIC-Z110BT features a revolutionary touch screen interface that lets you build your own home screen with the navigation, multi-media and Bluetooth functions that your use most. Simply drag and drop a functions icon in the menu to create up to 15 shortcuts within your home screen.

You can further customize the navigation receiver by adjusting button illumination color to match the interior of your car, or by uploading your own boot-up screen photo.

    Get Connected with MSN Direct

With the optional tuner (ND-MDT10), access up-to-date information from MSN Direct on your AVIC-Z110BT. MSN Direct is the ultimate in-car convenience, offering news, traffic, stock quotes, weather, movie times, and gas prices. Because MSN Direct can work seamlessly with systems navigation, you can be routed directly to a theater after finding the right show time, or have traffic flow overlayed on your route.

Enjoy MSN Direct free for the first three months when you add Pioneers optional tuner (ND-MDT10) to the AVIC-Z110BT.

    The Freedom of Speech

Navigation functions, iPod audio control and hands-free Bluetooth calling can all be controlled with the sound of your voice. Voice-activated control over your navigation system not only performs in-car tasks with greater speed, but helps you keep your eyes (and attention) on the road ahead.

    Media Mogul

Built to navigate, but born to entertain, the AVIC-Z110BT offers audio and video playback from the most popular formats. Whether youre watching DivX files on DVD, H.264 video on SD card or iTunes AAC files on CD, there are dozens of playback options for your favorite media. You will also appreciate the Zs ability to simultaneously entertain your front and back seat passengers with two different audio and video sources using Dual Zone functionality.

    Audiophile-grade Sound Architecture

Just because the AVIC-Z110BT features one of the most robust navigation platforms in the industry, doesnt mean it holds back on high-end sound quality. With 3 sets of hi-volt (4V) pre-outs, custom designed power supply capacitors and a 7-band graphic equalizer, you can build a massive system worthy of hi-fi listening.

    Expanded Listening

I had this Double DIN unit custom installed in my dash to replace a failing factory DIN-and-a-half unit. Everything works but some daily use things in the GUI and voice recognition leave alot to be desired. Ive owned and used this unit daily for the past 8 months. It does sound great, no doubt about that.

** The GUI does not utilize space well for most screen uses. Particularly the Radio Data System (RDS) info (learn more at [...]) **

When on Radio Detail view, there is alot of screen space there to show whats going on, yet the RDS info is crammed into a small mostly empty area in the upper left with small font and about an inch and a half long... there is plenty of space there to have the RDS info completely display all the information pertaining to Artist, Title, Album, Station ID, etc. The RDS info can also be cryptic at times.
This issue is carried over when viewing a listing of all the radio stations. The display lists 6 presets but you cannot label the presets. They are labeled by the RDS info whenever you are listening to that preset. When you change off that preset to another, the RDS info stops where it was in its broadcast. What you endup with is a garbled listing of nothingness. A typical example is given below:
    1: !hitas
    2: y love
    3: Kinks
    4: Classic
    5: Adam
    6: all th

When listening to Satellite stations, there is no way to know other than your own personal memory of what preset you are on. You will see a listing of 6 presets and none indicate what they are preset as. Example, XM/Sirius channel 15 is Classic Rewind and 23 is Hair Metal but the display does not show as that... just Preset 2, Preset 3.

    ** Voice Recognition feature. **
The voice recognition software in this unit is horrible. My microphone is mounted next to the drivers visor and works ok for Blue Tooth hands free phone calls. The VR software has not once accurately picked up what I am trying to tell it to do. Calling phone numbers listed as simple names from phone contact list (example Call the Wife) is the typical thing I wanted it to do. I simplified my cell phone contact list in an effort to make this work but it does not. Know that I do not speak with any accent or impediment. When the unit does not know what I said, it blurts out a robotic what was it?. I have given up on using this feature. It may be that the unit does not quite uundertstand the format of my Blackberry contact list... despite the fact the listed names are not complex.

Well let me say that this stereo is definitely worth the money. I bought it back in April, and I have certainly gotten my money worth from it. I truly love the iPod integration, which works like a charm. All my music plays crisp and clear, as if I were using the headphones with the iPod. I really enjoy using the different options to play my music, everything from the SD card to Bluetoothing it directly from my iPhone, although when I do bluetooth it sometimes its a little choppy and pauses very slightly. The phone option worked very well, and calls through my cars speakers were loud and understandable. But I must say, when it came time to setup the bluetooth to my iPhone, it was very hard, but I blame that from on not reading the manual that came with the stereo. All my contacts and recently missed and missed calls were on the screen, and I rarely had to use the phone for anything. Lastly the gps feature. Although it served its purpose, I do have my gripes with it. Some locations were simply not found and I could easily find the same address on the maps on my iPhone, and I would use that as opposed to the gps unit. On some occasions, it would direct me in a circle instead of just letting me know that I needed to make a uturn and go in the direction I was previously going before going off route. But other than that it worked satisfactory for me. It let me know the amount of miles that I needed to drive to reach my destination, the amount of time, and the exact time that I would reach my destination. I like how can change how the map view can be changed during a route, and how the navigation voice plays through my car speakers making it very loud and attention grabbing. Lastly I enjoy the app available for the iPhone, although lately I havent used very much. I cant really review the backup camera because I have had a hard time finding a good camera being that the stereo doesnt come with, but no worries because Ive been driving without one for long enough.

My main unit for comparison here is the AVIC F90BT, their previous flagship.
This one is faster to boot, more responsive, and more feature-filled.

Theres still a few minor bugs:
If you dont OK the navigation warning before your phone connects, the voice control is messed up until you turn it off and on again, its fairly easy to miss this if you have the unit on iPod or FM when you turn it off.
Just like the F90BT, sometimes browsing the iPod by artist letter gives you no results for letters that definitely have artists under them.

The voice control of nav is great for the categories in it, Find nearest Sears brings up a list of the nearest Sears very well, the directions are good, and the prompts are very good too, using pre-recorded numbers and such to tell you exit numbers without going to a robotic voice.
Voice control of iPod is similarly good, the best in the market. Play artist The Hanslick Rebellion does exactly what youd expect it to, as does Play Album Zetacarnosa.

The unit performs just as advertised. Although a little time consuming to install, the features are well worth the trouble. Ive had it a month and still discovering bells and whistles that amaze me. They call it their flagship model for a reason, it is a top-of-the-line piece of hardware that will give you complete enjoyment. The only slightly disappointing feature is the voice commanding. It can get a little lengthy and a little frustrating trying to input GPS information. I was a little hesitant to spend this kind of money but now I am so glad that I did.

This unit is a disappointment. The bluetooth is bug ridden, it no longer will support gauges that my old avic d2 showed giving you a separate speed to verify your speedo and when an incoming call is answered it only lowers the music but does not mute it which makes the call impossible Pioneer released this before it was ready. Hopefully they will offer an upgrade which I will begrudgingly pay for

Here is why I like it:

    * Reverse camera available almost immediately after starting car
    * Radio starts about 5 seconds later while unit continues to boot
    * expecting it to be upgradable to Pioneer AVIC-Z120BT 7 In-Dash Double-Din Navigation CD/DVD/MP3 with Pandora iPhone streaming later this year
    * Quick booting, very responsive
    * Looks great, no out of place knobs, completely touchscreen minus some small buttons on the bottom.
    * Msn Direct. Many people like to complain it is only available until Jan 2012. While this is true, if you buy now, the cost is very little after averaging it out over the life of the unit. Hopefully Pioneer will have something else ready by then.
    * Dead reckoning. Havent hooked up my speed wire yet but people seem to like so I assume Ill like it too.
    * Voice recognition /blue tooth seems to be hit or miss with some people but I find most people like it, and it works well for me.

Biggest problems I think are really with the GPS maps. Street names are not always labeled while driving. Cant upgrade....very little customization as far as I can tell. I havent used IGO but Id imagine if would feel like a downgrade compared to it. The unit also runs windows automotive which is not hackable in the same way units running CE are.

Another downside are somewhat costly modules if you want to add to your unit. Some things you may want to add which include additional purchases are

    * Steering wheel controls
    * MSN Direct (not sure but may not be able to combine with HD Radio or Sirius)
    * HD radio
    * Sirius / XM
    * IPOD connector (NOTE: For me, music streaming from my ipod seems to work well using the standard IPOD Usb cable)

Ultimately, I wanted something that booted up relatively fast, was responsive, had traffic, not too expensive, and something that wouldnt stand out from the rest of the car and Im happy with my choice.

I have had two other Pioneer products of this type and this unit by far was over and above my expectations. W/O going thru all the bells and whistles that usually accompany these reviews, I will get to the one that means the most; it works as designed in every respect and has great response times to all commands. My wife has a built in unit for her Lexus RX350 and this unit is just amazing. It starts up quickly and responds instantly. Well, finally Pioneer has a unit that equals the flash memory performance of that GPS unit and with a few extras ta boot.. The Pioneer development lab must have realized that using a better performing flash memory was tantamount in getting the most out of their designs. (duh!) The Z110BT will not disappoint!

    Review:

Basically comes down to this, the gui is awesome and has tons of features like making your own shortcut home screen to watching movies through Bluetooth from your ipone. However the navigation is not that great... the maps look cool and nicely laid out but the routing is often terribly wrong. Another strange thing Ive notice was when your zooming out the map, often the street your on will no longer be displayed, and Im not talking about zooming out real far either and these are main roads. The Mic that came with the unit was not very good. I had read about this before but decided to try it out and everyone said It sounded bad so I bought a garmin mic that has been a huge improvement.

    Best thing:

The new z120bt coming out soon will have all new software and gui interface is really cool AND you can purchase and upgrade for the z110bt because there is no difference between the two besides software. Lots of people (like me) are buying up the z110bt because the prices are pretty low compared to when the new one comes out and youll have to pay a premium for it.

    Worst:

Navigation is just subpar for a flagship from pioneer...

Fantastic sound and the XM radio interface is nice with the station logo art. The GUI is simple and is easy to use and navigate.

The navigation system is truly horrid. After a month it still hadnt fully calibrated and would often put me off position by as much as several blocks. The routing was just plain silly often having me zig zagging through neighborhoods when a straight line would have been most efficient. The MSN traffic is a joke. POIs are way below expectations. Garmin simply outclasses this format in all respects.

Voice command is nice when it works.

Bottom line.....if you want a nice sounding stereo get it. If you are looking for something with good navigation keep looking because this will be a major disappointment.

I replaced my Avic D2 with the Z110BT Pioneer system. Although the D2 worked great, I wanted Blue tooth.

I was disappointing to learn the Z110BT does not have Nav traffic as my old model did. It also does not have the old dash style screen.
The D2 has a selection for the look of an old car dash. Example, Speedometer, clock, and volt gauge with different bacground selections. However the Z110BT does have an IPod, flash drive, and SD card slot and plays DVDS.
I will update as I learn more about the Radio. It has only been in the car for a day.

I connected this in a 2002 Honda Odysey with great results. Fast rear view camera. (immediately after engine start. No delay) Great touchscreen. (no lag after a press) Speach recognition works. (The speach works for almost any funtion and recognizes my voice. For example, inputting addresses or finding the nearby park) Navigation is fantastic. (Great use of text to speach and changes to the screen to help make turns. Well done.) Ipod connector works well with an iPhone. For example, i can have a show playing in the rear screen and check my email, etc without stopping the play of the video.

    Navigation is great
    Satellite Radio Module is great
    HD Radio Module is great
    Radio is great
    your site Dealer is great

Bluetooth is is so bad that I no longer use it.

I replaced the micrphone twice, I replaced the head unit twice trying to fix the bluetooth sound quality problems. I used different phones to make sure problem was not with my phone.

Finally a Pioneer tech support rep told me off the record to quit trying to fix the problem that the bluetooth in this unit is just poor quality. He also stated there is no fix from pioneer at this time.

When I buy the best the company has to offer, I expect top notch products. If Im paying over a thousand for a head unit, I expect everything a head unit could offer and more. That, however, is not the case with the Pioneer Avic-Z110BT.

Pros: I bought this unit because of the bright screen, UI, ipod integration, navi and bluetooth features. The menu is customizable which was a big plus. The iPod integration is fast and very simple to use. Navigation is not the best, but still offers some nice features. Bluetooth is by Parrot which makes it work flawlessly and calls, history and contacts load instantly. The sound is spectacular and the built in amp does a very nice job and delivering crisp and clear sound. The options for EQ and sound stage makes it easy to find the best tweak for you.

Cons: There are a lot of standards this unit lacks. One feature I hate to see it lacking is the inability to quickly mute or lower the volume with a single touch. The unit can be muted, but the voice button must be pressed for longer than 5 seconds. Also, there is no remote available, which I wouldve expected since the lower models support them. The Navigation screen is not as customizable as I wouldve liked, and from the navigation screen there is actually no way to input an address. You can only search for POI or go back to home in order to enter an address. The iPod cable cost $45 but probably only costs Pioneer about $2 to make. It is ridiculously expensive and it shouldve been included in the package. The front lip of the unit where the controls are sticks out more than other units. In my Scion tC, it stops my cover from fully closing. Why does a unit that cost $1400 lack so many basic features?

Overall I like the Unit. I give it 3.5 stars. There are a lot of things that need improvement. When the new Z120BT comes out with the new firmware, we better be able to get it as well. It would be ludicrous and a disgrace if they release a new firmware on the new product and forget their loyal customers from the past.

Installed in a 2010 Tundra. Everything wired up easily and if you have steering wheel controls, I highly recommend you get the adapter for that when you order this! The unit is a beast! It does alot of stuff in a compact package and I look forward to the updated firmware when the Z120 comes out. Im not a huge iPhone/pod fan, so I dont really use that portion of it, but so far the maps are spot on, the voice control is better then my stock unit and the plethora of inputs and capabilities of it keep me happy. May have to update the wifes to this one, or the 920 as well soon.
