The harness is shown attached to a waterproof, submersible Stylus Tough. I wish I had one when I was snorkeling in the Caribbean in May; I would have clipped it to my vest strap. I was very worried about dropping my $400 camera and not being able to dive deep enough to retrieve it.
The alternative, a float strap, might have sent it skittering away if the wind was up. BTW, the Tough actually IS quite tough and the metal clip likely would do no harm ... but obviously anyone with some skill could find the components to make their own with a durable plastic clip.

I bought a couple of these because they are a really neat idea for use on all kinda things, cameras, cell phones, etc. Just be careful that the metal clip doesnt get too close to the screen on your digital camera, because it might get scratched.

I bought a few of these for our various cameras and small electronics. The previous reviewers dont understand what the purpose of this strap is. It is for little $1-200 digital cameras that are convenient to travel with, not clunky $400 SLRs. Once the strap is attached to the camera, you attach the carabiner clip to the strap of your shoulder bag, neck lanyard (at a theme park or event), or jacket buttonhole. That way, you can use the camera at will without detaching the clip again. I have also used this strap for the flash drives my kids need to bring to school. Once attached to their binder or backpack, they can use the flash drive without detaching it, thus minimizing their chances of forgetting or misplacing it.

Nice to have the hook to switch out straps. We have the float, wrist and neck straps. However, having a big metal hook inches away from your camera isnt a good idea and we have gotten away from using it.
