I just returned from Boise Idaho where I was on a business trip. While there I had a chance to do a quick shopping at a local Boise mall where I found this toy. My 20 months old son loves it!!!! It keeps him occupied for hours!! It is truly a fun toy for toddlers, which teaches them sorting by colors, eye hand coordination, and focus and concentration!!! I love watching him play with it!!!!

We received this as a gift for my sons first birthday or the Christmas following. He still loves it. I have had no quality problems, the mallet has stayed together, as have the sides of the table, and he abuses it (Ive caught him using it as a step stool once or twice). The mallet tends to get lost, as do pegs, but we eventually find them again. I need to start using it to teach him colors now that he is talking. And counting. Hell be two in a month, and shows no signs of tiring of it. Sometimes he takes a break and doesnt play with it for a few weeks, but he always ends up going back to it.

my daughter loves this toy! she spends hours playing with it just putting the pegs in then taking them out. BUT, one of the sides broke off the day after i got it. it was an easy fix with some wood glue, but it was inconvenient. also, it is made of softer wood which shows every tap that has been made on it. ive only had it for 2 weeks and it is covered in indentations from both the mallet and the pegs.

Our grand son loves playing with this. He says his colors and enjoys banging the pegs out and putting them back in.

Im a big fan of Melissa and Doug toys for my baby, who is now a toddler. In general, Melissa and Doug makes educational, sturdy toys you can be confident and comfortable in giving your child.
Unfortunately, my experience with the pound-a-peg was not so great. The first unit we bought we had the pegs lose their shape and start falling through the holes after just a few plays, and this is when our little one was >1, so not a real heavy-hitter. Melissa and Doug were very responsive and immediately sent us a new one, after a quick phone call to their customer service center (where you actually speak to a live person; kudos!).
Unfortunately, we had the same problem with the second set, and then some. Not only did the pegs lose their pound-ability but the hammer also feel apart, repeatedly.
All in all, I think Melissa and Doug make great products--and I continue to frequent them as a company--but this one just didnt seem to hold up.

Santa brought this gift for my 2yo. He loves it! Ours seems to be made just fine, no durability issues. My 2yo likes to just what its made for, pounding the pegs down & flipping it over & doing it again & again. He takes the pegs completely out & rearranges the colors and even tried giving a blue peg to Dad when he was nailing up a wall hanging. Kids are cool!
Mama wishes the pegs were a little harder to pound thru as he can push them through without the hammer. And it could be bigger in size as it is pretty small compaired to others I have seen.
But for less than $10, it is a good choice for a wooden well made toy. If you have an extra $10 to spend($20 total), buy the pound & roll M&D tower. We have both & that one gets much more use plus higher marks from Mama too!
