wow,
I wish I had discovered this last year when I received my Canon Elph, the gorillapod is a fantastic tripod and an essential accessory;) Since discovering my digital also takes great video, this tripod is even more kicka$$. The gorillapod can secure the camera in the most difficult of locations; attaining: height, angles and stability that standard tripods cannot match. The flexible legs with magnet tips provide endless possibilities for securing your camera.
enjoy.
*thanks for the recommendation Tone, you always know the best toys*

This thing is great! Its extremely light, but does not feel cheap. I have a much smaller cheapo model that comes with many kits (Im sure youve seen it on your site...costs like 50 cents) that I carry with me when hiking or need a smaller tripod. This is actually lighter than that one, and its longer. Each of the segments individually moves, so it is really flexible. The magnets on the feet are uber strong, which can easily hold the camera on a vertical surface. Also, each segment is wrapped in rubber, so if you are putting it in a tree, it can easily grab and hold onto a branch. Excellent product, only I wish it was slightly less expensive. Frankly, this should probably cost around $15, not $25! Probably because its brand name, but other than that its perfect!

I use this tripod with my Canon sx201is camera. It has allowed me to take some great slower shutter speed pictures at some very neat angles. It easily attaches to and detaches from the camera. The magnets are plenty strong enough to support the size camera I am using. The only drawback to the tripod is that when I use the quick release to move it, the little foot that is left behind on the camera is in the way of opening the door to remove the battery and memory card, so I have to unscrew it anyways. Other than that, Id recommend this to someone looking for a nifty little travel sized tripod that youll probably always have with you (since it is so small, it easily fits in a purse or backpack).

Love my gorillapod! I bought it for use with my flip cam but have wound up using it for my regular point and shoot camera quite often too. Ive had to set it up at really weird angles several times and had absolutely no problem. Highly recommend!

This is one of those things youll wish youd invented. Just a terrific little gadget to go along with your compact camera or mini recorder. Using this Ive been able to get into the scene with the camera hung from door hinges, shelf brackets, chair backs and of course any horizontal upright surface. Near infinitely adjustable and the magnets are strong enough for any compact camera or recorder. Its rated UP TO 11.5 oz which covers any compact digital camera and quite a few that stretch the definition of compact. Im not sure whats wrong with reviewers who complain and downgrade it because it wont support their 24oz SLR reliably...well DUH!
About the only thing to watch out for when using it or carrying it with you ARE the magnets -They are very strong for the size and shape and you dont want to just casually grab and pull if youre resting on a loose object. I set it down with my camera mounted on top of a mid-tower sized PC weighing about 18 lbs and discovered it had no problem moving the whole cabinet before it released. Im guessing the 11.5oz rating has more to do with what the flexible leg joints will support before the camera starts to shift a bit in some orientations rather than what you can hang via the magnets. Just keep it away from things sensitive to magnetic fields or get the original non-magnetic version which is also available in a beefed up SLR version.
The only other negative is the price which is a little high IMO, given what you can find the original, non-magentic version selling for that now has competition in the market. Still, its just a great, flexible (no pun intended) accessory item that deserves a spot in your camera accessory bag. I give it a 5 star rating cause it does what its supposed to, does it very well and will probably outlast the cameras I use it for.

I have used my versatile original monkeypod (blue) tripod from day one - would not travel without it. Always getting positive comments and compliments on it.
Now with strong magnetic feet, this new magnetic gorillapod is even more amazing! Twice as easy to set-up for self-pictures. Grabs any steel surface with tenacious grip, but can still be used like the original model, monkey-gripped onto limbs, fences, etc.
BTW, this magnetic gorillapod is the identical dimension as original monkeypod, about 6 high opened up.

I was a little unsure about whether to get this size or the next size for a SLR, my digital camera is a bit bulky so I thought it would be too heavy, but no. This Gorillapod is strong for its size, Im sure it will work for any point and shoot digital camera

I knew Gorillapods were great but adding the magnets on the feet makes the magnetic Gorillapod even better. I bought one for my Kodak zi8 HD cam, and it love it. The magnets are super strong and allow me to easily attach the camera to a lot more surfaces.

overall this product is great. definitely a must have. the only things i would change of the design is to make it a few inches taller and with a little stronger magnet. other than that it does the job...

Not bad, but if you think you might want to put a slightly heavier electronic on this, you should go ahead and upgrade to a sturdier model... on the flip side - this is very lightweight and compact, just dont expect it to hold too much.

This is probably the greatest thing since sliced bread. I was going to buy the original Gorillapod until this came out. Its great! The magnets were strong enough to hold my Canon PowerShot A540. The great thing is that it is the same as the original Gorillapod, just with magnets. So you can still attach it to a tree, but also to a street sign pole. There is also a quick release feature on it that allows you to leave a small attachment on your camera and easily slide it on and off the pod itself. I would recommend this to everyone I know.

Very durable. can get some very nice angles. magnets are very strong ( careful what you let get near them, had an issue with a hotel keycard getting deprogramed, carried in the same bag) they keep their hold and feels secure.
