I bought this item for my mother who has been athlete all her life and has a several stage of plantar fascitis with a lot of pain. She mentioned the splint is much lighter than it appears to be. She has no problems also to sleep at least some hours with the device on. It has been only 2 weeks and a half and pain has diminished. I think we will buy the splint for the other foot.

If I wear the Cub at night when resting and to sleep I can put my foot on the floor in the morning with very little or no pain. Without the Cub I can barely walk for about ten minutes in the morning. The most important thing with this slipper is to put it on just right. To tight, and it bites into your foot (wearing a thick sock helps to prevent this). To loose, and there is to much flex in the ankle and the tendon in the bottom of the foot contracts and you get pain in the morning. I had to adjust mine to ten degrees because there is some flex that is inherent in this thing. The neoprene wrap does stretch a little and you can only make the Cub just so tight or rigid (thats why only four stars). If the plastic structure inside the neoprene that runs up the side of the leg wrapped around the back of the calf, this thing would probably be perfect. As far as comfort when sleeping, I find it a non issue. It is pretty comfortable. It has a solid foot bed so the straps dont squeeze the sides of your feet like the HealWell AFO Night Wrap does. I bought that one first and threw it away. You cant return these, they come sealed in plastic bags. Your can hobble (fixed ankle) around the house in it, but not outside. Just remember, this probably wont fix the problems your having, but will make them easier to deal with. If you have severe pain in the morning like I do, youll try anything. Start with the Cub, it should do the trick.

I was told to buy night splints for my achilles tendonitis, which was not improving despite NSAIDS, and local steroid injections (ouch!) by my podiatrist. Well, despite its initial awkwardness (I hate to sleep w/ socks on, much less a boot), I have to say this particular night splint has been a Godsend! I dont have to hobble around when I get out of bed because of stiffnes and discomfort. Aside from the bulk/awkwardness, this is a five star product!

Relieves pain while wearing, reduces inflamation and aids the overall healing process. Worth the money.

I got this in August 2008 for my worsening plantar fasciitis following a recommendation to use a night splint from a colleague. He said it was the only thing tht helped him get over a flair a few years ago. I settled on the Cub after searching the net as this design seemed rather simple without all of the straps and buckles that others have.
Although it looks a bit dorky to crawl into bed with it on, it works pretty well. My plantar fasciitis is better (getting up in the morning is much easier, but is can still be painful), but it hasnt gone away despite my using the Cub every night for 6 mos straight. I think that b/c the angle between the lower leg and the foot is maintained only on one side (medial) rather than both, the Cub flexes a bit and is not as rigid as it might be. But Im not sure that is why I still have PF either.

The Cub Boot was recommended by my Podiatrist. Many people sleep with their toes pointed at night causing the plantar fasciitis pain during the day. This boot effectively holds the foot in approx a 90 degree angle. It is an excellent product; and definitely worked for me. Remember not to walk with it on. It is somewhat bulky (reason why not 5 stars) but if you have so much pain from plantar fasciitis like I did; then it is definitely worth a try because it works.

Im a 28 year old avid runner in Florida and have had PR in my left foot thats gotten progressively worse for 8 months.
Me being a competitor I wanted to just run through the pain. Its only gotten worse. So finally, the PF hurt so bad in the mornings, I had to take action.
I ordered the Healwell Cub and stopped trying to be tough guy and keep running.
Its been 2 weeks since I started wearing the splint, which is a very comfortable splint and not so bulky that it gets in the way all the time.
The outside feels kind of like wetsuit material, and is very soft and cushiony.
Its also been 2 weeks since I quit running on it, and its starting to come around little by little. The pain now in the morning and throughout the day is half of what it used to be(its still there though).
I love to run but its not worth it to go through the nagging pain of PF.
Im going to continue to wear the Splint and not run and hopefully it will disappear completely and I can get back to being active.
So far so good with the Healwell Cub I give it 4 out of 5 stars

I have been suffering from severe, chronic plantar fasciitis for approximately 8 months and nothing has worked for me. I have tried NSAIDS, arch inserts, heal cups, exercises, you name it--nothing worked! Every morning Id wake up with a fascia that was in complete spasm, and the pain would last throughout the day. I have not had a pain free day since the onset of this condition.
Two days ago, I received my Cub in the mail. I was doubtful, of course, as to whether it would work. The first night, I had it too tight and woke up around 1:30 AM with a sharp pain in the side of my heal. I loosened the velcro straps and went right back to sleep. Slept like a baby!
When I woke up the next morning, there was still pain, but it was significantly decreased. The next night I wore it again, and this morning I got up with absolutely no pain at all! So far today, I have no pain!
I realize it is too early to tell if this will actually heal the condition, but just the one day without pain is worth the 60 bucks I spent on this thing! Hopefully, there are many more to come...
I say, GIVE IT A SHOT!
