This remote completely revamped the way I use my home entertainment. I have an HDTV, Surround sound, Xbox, blu ray, computer, and Dish box and this thing put them all together for me. Pretty easy set up if your even semi electronically inclined. Easy customization letting you do almost anything with one button. Before buying check the Logitech website for compatibility for your devices just to be sure other than that pony up to get the best remote out there.

Still learning all of its features, but it can be complicated or as simple as turning the TV on and off.

Most guys who are into Audio-Visual stuff dont mind the remote clutter. We understand how they work, what order to activate them, and appreciate the abilities of each. HOWEVER, the people we live with may not appreciate the clutter and unnecessary functionality of, say, five remotes sitting on the coffee table. Enter the Logitech Harmony 1100. Clutter gone, functionality clear. Want to watch TV? Press the Watch TV button. All components are turned on in the right order and switched to the right input, etc. Same for all your other entertainment needs. It will even control your Mac (or PC) so you can stream tunes to your AV Receiver, if you are set up to do so. Setting up the remote is a breeze, and you can customize the initial setup even further, if you like. The touchscreen works great, and downloadable icons for all your favorite channels are available if you really want to customize. Everyone in my family loves this remote. My wife who was initially skeptical of spending $300 on a remote says it is the best $300 Ive ever spent. Babysitters can come in and understand how to operate the Entertainment Center immediately. Drawbacks? Well, if you are a heavy sports viewer like me, the Harmonys ability to accurately control DirecTVs DVR is nowhere near as good as the DVRs remote. So, I end up using the DVRs remote when watching sports - for pausing and super slow mo. Otherwise a GREAT problem solver and welcome addition to your AV setup.

Let me start by saying, I hated Universal remotes. Not because they were hard to use but because they didnt keep all of my functions and I would still need the old remote. Last universal I had was bought when I bought my Sony Grand Wega. It was the Sony Remote Commander. It was a good concept, and if they had run with it, they could have been the top dog. The problems that I had with that were 1) no rechargable batteries 2) constant beeping 3) and settings were not easy to put back on when said batteries died. All that kept me away from buying another universal remote.
Just replaced my Grand Wega with a Samsung LED and with all the functions between my receiver, blu-ray player, XBMC, and all the rest of my components it was getting hard to keep the remotes in the same place (i.e. too many people in my house using one or two and leaving them somewhere else). I opted for the Harmony series because I knew they were good from word of mouth. I was amazed how easy it was to setup. And for what seemed to be painful reconnecting because I didnt like how one function worked, it didnt take that long. I have read that there is no customization of this product. This I found to be untrue. For one activity (XBMC for example), on startup, a menu defaults on the remote as my main play. On the same menu, on the sound, I can adjust my Dolby/THX/ and bass settings for my receiver. Every button is customizable on this and, with a little patience, it is pretty self explanatory.
Pros:
Price was good when purchased (under $300)
Rechargeable battery w/cradle
Easy setup
Great online support of all equipment I put it up against
Very little that needed to be learned by the remote
Once setup is complete, anyone can use (my 5 year old can use it and I am pretty sure my grandmother could use it)
Cons:
Screen gets smudgy quick (get you some screen protectors)
Not enough pages for Favorite TV channels.
All in all I am extremely happy with this. Just another fine point to make.. Having bought the new TV, I decided to upgrade the receiver. The receiver I opted for hadnt been on the market that long. I added to my Harmony (before I bought it) and there was already support for it and all of its functions!
Equipment:
Samsung UN55C8000 55 3D LED 240hz
Samsung BD-6900
Zotac XBMC w/generic remote
Onkyo TX-NR1008 9.2 Channel Network Home Theater

What a great product, I dont think I could manage five remotes without it. I brought mine on Oct. 2009, and I must admit it was a longer learning curve, but was well worth it. I cant say about Cust. support because I didnt need it. Its really easy to figure out. The best part is your computer stores all the data you program into the remote, and if it should ever loose its way, just plug it into your computer via USB and update the remote with only one click...I love It..

I just received my Harmony 1100 yesterday, and was able to do the basic configuration in about 45 minutes. More advanced customization took a couple extra hours, but mainly because I had to download images for each channel I set up in favorites. I currently have 8 devices programmed, and they work flawlessly. After reading some of the reviews, I was worried it would be difficult and be more of a hassle than I had wanted to deal with. However, it was actually fun to configure and customize the remote. I kept trying to find other devices around the house to add to the remote.
The only negative(s) is that you have to look down to find button on the touch screen, since you cant feel the appropriate button to push. Ultimately, not a big deal for me, considering I had to really press hard on the buttons of my original remove before they would respond. Also, I wish I could change the default activities pictures...Im bored with the default parrot. There might be a way to change it..Ill keep looking.
The remote is light weight, great feel, and configuration is actually pretty intuitive and fun. Im constantly tweaking and adding activities and key functions to suit my needs, as I find ways to make the remote fit my usages.
I would definitely recommend this product.

This remote is amazing and I love it. I am not a tech wizard, but it was extremely easy to program and use. Most of my devises I didnt have to program because they were already preloaded via the internet when I entered the model numbers in the software that programs the remote. I have seen complaints that it is slow. I dont know about that, mine is fairly quik to turn on all devices and to turn my TV to the correct channel/input for the device being used. Much faster than me trying to remember and turn them all on manually by the individual remotes. It works much faster as well with my cable box than the actual cable box remote did. I was even able to program it to control my Air Conditioner. My wife was upset with me at first for buying it, but once she tried it, she loved it as well. No more calling me when Im not at home to figure out how to get the DVD to work, or what channel to put the TV on. Now it is all one button such as watch TV or watch a DVD. It automatically turns off the unused devices and turns on the other necessary devices. I was only a little upset with your site becuase I wanted to order another for upstairs, but for some reason it said it cant ship this to my APO address, but the first order for this was okay to the same address.

Easy to set up out of the box. Wanted to put station icons on touch screen, but had to go to a separate site, download those, and put them on remote, which wasnt that easy, and instructions did not go into enough detail. Finally called Customer Service, and after that, it worked jst fine. They were very helpful. The remote seems intuitive enough, but you must understand how your system is connected and how you want the remote to interact with the componets you have. Once you know that, youre good to go. Its a great remote for the price, particularly after researching several others costing way more; in some cases several times more. A good value for the money.

I am installing this remote for a friend of mine and the software used for this is very annoying. The functionality of the remote is OK but the interface with the software is not that great. Every change that you make to the set up has to be uploaded to the Remote control and the RF extender.
Not all the commands from the remote controls used in the equipment are in this software (I have installed a Denon 1311 receiver, Sony BR, CD changer, RCA receiver and a Kenwood receiver) and you have to manually program the remote.
If you are doing basic things with the remote it should be fine, but if you need it to be more flexible then you need to prepare to be in the software a lot.
By the way, you have to have a good and fast internet connection in order to be able to program the remote.
If you are not very technical, I would not recommend it if you do not have somebody that will program the remote.
Ones the remote is programmed it works OK.

We upgraded to this model from our old Harmony 880, which we loved but one of its hard buttons quit working. We selected the 1100 because of its compatibility with the optional RF Wireless Extender. This is great for installations with equipment either inside cabinet doors or otherwise blocked from direct line-of-sight view with conventional infrared remotes. Sometimes we watch TV while eating at the dining room table, but our A/V equipment is obstructed from view there and cant be controlled by a conventional IR remote. We preferred this model to the 900, which is strictly an RF remote and requires use of the included blasters in order to communicate with the equipment. With the 1100 you can set it up so that some devices operate from IR signals from the remote, while others operate from IR signals coming from the Extender (which in turns communicates by RF signal with the remote itself). Now that we finally have the 1100 set up and configured the way we like, it works flawlessly throughout the house. Our only significant complaint is the poor documentation for installing & using this device, particularly with the Extender. Be advised that Logitech has a complete Users Manual in PDF format that can be downloaded from the customer support section of their website, but they dont include a hard copy of the manual in the package with the remote. If they had included it we could have saved a couple of hours of frustration getting things working. A couple of calls to Logitech customer support were promptly & clearly answered.

I purchased this remote after reading reviews on line for quite some time. The price went down from $399 to $290 with $30 mail-in rebate from Logitech. Remote arrived very fast, within 3 days of purchase. The initial set-up is a breeze - install software from included CD, connect to the computer, and it will guide you through all your activities. For that you need to know exact model number of every piece of your AV equipment, so you can pull it from a very extensive database. Just make sure that your computer is on line as it is one of the requirements of the setup. You also need to know exactly how all pieces of your home theater are connected and what inputs and outputs are being used as you will be asked during the setup what your equipment is supposed to do.
Once you finished your initial setup, you have to check if everything is working as intended. And if it does, you may stop there. If you want to customize your remote to perform some other functions or add more buttons, you have to go back to the setup and make changes. That is the point where the challenges start.
While most of the buttons on the remote screen will match your original remote, some are missing. Adding the button is a pain - unfortunately the remote is NOT CAPABLE of learning commands from other remotes despite the fact that software will guide through this process. It didnt matter how many times I positioned remotes in front of each other, it didnt work. I had to call tech support to help me with adding the button (command) to the screen remotely. After that, it worked. The tech told me that sometimes it doesnt work Oh well...
Oh yes, just a reminder - the tech support is only free for 90 days, after that you have to pay if you have a problem!!!
Each activity screen consists of 4 different screens marked in the corners of your screen - main screen usually has preset preset buttons for play, pause stop, FF and rewind with side bars. side bars have 4 buttons in them that are customizable with icons and text.
For example, lets look at the watch TV screen. The upper left corner of the screen is your main menu - play/stop, upper right is marked with heart symbol, lower right with star symbol and lower left with 123 symbol. Pressing on each corner opens up a different set of menus, some are useful and some are not. Its not possible to access some advanced equipment remote functions from those screens. To do that, you have exit your activity, go to the setup and and select a device you want to control. Under that screen you will find that layout of the buttons on Logitech remote doesnt match your original remote because setup/customize screen in the Logitech software is divided into pages that dont match the screen of the Logitech hardware. It makes a process of finding the right button very cumbersome and frustrating. Logitech forgot that most of the newest remote controls are getting bigger and more complex with a lot of functions for the advanced TVs and BD players. So, if you want detailed customization and use of all functions that your original remotes have, be prepared to be be frustrated and spend a lot of time experimenting with the best screen layout that fits your needs. One more note - some of on-screen buttons have labels that can not be changed even if you assign a different function to each of them - the major drawback in customization.
The remote range is OK but you do have to make sure its pointed somewhat directly onto your equipment to make sure that command is executed, it doesnt have a wide angle of operation.
Now a bit of the good stuff... Looks and feel are great. Remote is solidly built, looks good, screen is very bright and readable and it is also very responsive. The battery last long enough, especially after 2-3 weeks of use and charging.
Overall its a good purchase if you have many remote controls and want to remove the clutter and have something very stylish in your living room or home theater.

I bought this remote to get rid of the 6 other remotes i was using. Also it made things easier for my wife who hated having so many remotes around the living room. She loves it because it is so easy to use

I purchased this because I lost my regular remote....Logitech is the best. Took less than 30 min to set up and it works great. Love the large screen and the charger.. always know where it is now. I would highly recommend this one. My husband has the Logitech Pro one and I hate it.

The Harmony 1100 does a good job of controlling our home theater system. It has the ability to turn on and then set up numerous components for a specific activity, like watching TV, with a single button touch. If you then decided to change to a different activity, say, from watching TV to listening to music, with a single button it will turn off the unused TV components and activate any components needed to listen to music. When you are done listening to music, a single touch of the power command shuts everything down. A very versatile and useful tool to anyone with a fairly complicated system. Highly recommended.

Ive had this for over a month and the jury is actually still out on it.
It was pretty easy to program, but I think it (the remote) still may be learning because it doesnt always do a great job perfoming the task (doesnt initiate or turn off all components that it is supposed to).
Doesnt do a good job controlling the XBox 360 at all. I basically still use the XBox controller.
Tv volume goes up and down in increments of two. Kind of annoying.
pretty laggy and you definitely need line of sight if you dont have the RF extender.
Very expensive.
It definitely is weird feeling ergonomically, but that doesnt bother me too much.
Has a cool factor to it, but Im still not convinced that its worth the price for what it actually does. There is a little less clutter on the table but I feel its more cumbersome when I need to do specific tasks that arent immediately available on the main menus. Itd be easier to just use the original remotes.
Maybe should have gotten the 900.

The Logitech Harmony 1100 Universal Remote with Color Touch Screen let me down in the input source two-step process while in use with my Onkyo Home Theater AV Receiver TX-SR706. Set up of the Harmony 1100 was fun and fairly easy to do. However, there is no way that the unit could be set up to accommodate the two-step input source process that is a part of my AV Receiver. When I want to select or change an imput source I have to press the Receiver button on the remote, then press the appropriate input source button on the remote that I want, such as, CBL/SAT, DVD, PHONO, TUNER, TAPE, CD, etc. The Harmony 1100 will not accommodate this input source two-step process. Once the Action process is configured on the Harmony 1100, such as Watch TV, you are stuck with that choice. Receiver button, input source. Receiver button, input source....two steps. The Harmony 1100 will not accommodate this process on my AV Receiver. So, I had to return it. Other wise it is a neat little remote.
