Great value, not perfect, but good solid machine! The lag time between hitting the Print button on my computer and the machine actually starting its paces to print is longer than Id like -- thats my only possible grrr...! Im glad to have it and would repurchase same model again, assuming things continue to run the way they do now.

I purchased this product because I had owned one for 2 years previously. When the old one tore up, I got the exact same product.

I am the de facto IT guy at a company full of people who are techno naive. I like HP printers because the ones I get are fool proof and coworkers dont mess them up too often. This one works like all the rest I have bought or owned - fool proof. This one is used by an 85 year old woman who is mystified by what to do about automatic updates yet rarely needs me to do anything but change her ink when empty. Thats how I like it. She scans, copies and prints just fine after I showed her how about 5 times. Not bad for someone nearly deaf. Good Printer, I think you will like it.

Was in the market to get an all-in-one full functional printer to add to my older Dell computer with Windows XP home ed. and Intel Pentium 4. Caught a good sale, brought it home, set it up simply and easily. I ran some test prints from the internet, did some scans and the resolutions were better than what I expected. Very clear and clean. Some time later, I sent out and received some faxes and both ways came out great. Works at a reasonable speed for simple, low volume jobs, and I really like the customer support and programs. Was having a minute issue with a HP imaging monitor box poping up at random and would have a little issue with it registering the contacts of recycled ink cartridges BUT overall it didnt freeze up anything running or cause any problems. Its a go from me !!

Great price. Works as advertised. Pleasant surprises in the scan software.Anyone who has trouble setting it up did not read the directions.

I wrote a review earlier regarding this printer and at that time I was having issues installing the drivers. After performing a System Restore the drivers for the J4580 installed with ease. I believe a Beta 2010 Office installation corrupted some files causing the install failures. The HP J4580 seems to be a great printer.
The only issue I can see now is it uses a lot of ink and the HP 901 replacements are rather pricey. Overall I am satisfied with my purchase!

I dont print a lot but the last printer I had wouldnt feed paper without my assistance and it drove me nuts. This printer installed without a problem and has perfomed quite well. If youre looking for an inexpensive 4-in 1 printer check this one out

The All-in-one is attractive and offers great features; however, I have not been able to properly install the drivers. It downloads, installs, and during the configuring process a FATAL ERROR appears. HP Technical Support has not been able to resolve this issue either. It probably would be a great printer if I had the ability properly install the drivers. Im not sure if this is a Windows 7 issue (even though I have been using the driver CD meant for Windows 7) or if its an HP problem. Good luck if you decide to purchase one!

Bought it mainly for home use. Having all in one is quite handy. Didnt liked the idea that I cant use it as phone though. Document feeder is also an advantage. I guess it would have been better if the bottom rack and top can be covered when not in use else will catch dust soon.

I was shocked at some of the reviews here when I looked up this printer on your site. I bought this printer for 79.00 from office depot and I am very happy with it . I am a writer, and I print almost everything and this printer has kept up with me nicely. It gives great printing and fax capabilities as well as a dependable and easy setup. Most people say that installing an all in one printer slows down your PC and this one may not be any different, but as long as your PC has a good strong processor (I have an intel core Duo ) and memory (about 4 GB) you should be in business. The only thing that I didnt like was that the software that came with the printer had no support for windows 7 , but that was easily rectified with a trip to HPs website and a download of the updated driver software. The printer cartridges are the usual HP price (if not a little lower) and if you previously owned an HP printer you should have no surprises here. All in all im glad that I bought it and would suggest the J4580 to anyone. I bought this printer about November last year and I am happy to say that after doing a lot of printing my cartridge is still half full. I wonder if the people in the other reviews followed the setup and set up their printers properly. If they didnt it may explain some of the problems they have been having, hp printers are notoriously bad if the setup isnt properly followed, but when you follow the steps and the directions you get a fine machine.

Bottom line the HP J4580 works great with the ITP4you VOIP phone service provider. For additional details see below.
I purchaced this all in one scanner, printer, copier, faxer($79 on sale target) for the few times I needed a fax sent/received from home using my voip provider. The set up is pretty clear I only noted one thing missing in the Quick Setup Flyer. After step 8 it should note software will instruct you to plug the USB cable from PC to HP J4580. There are pics showing when to plug in all the other accesories so to include the USB note after step 8 would prevent people from plugging it in too soon thinking they might have missed it. I have ITP4you voip phone service provider and it was unclear on their website how to setup faxes. After calling ITP tech support it turns out automatically the service is setup for voice only for better quality calling. He switched the line to voice/data so that I would be able receive and send faxes also. There is an option to purchace a second line for fax only but the little I use the fax this is not needed. I am using one phone line with phone/answering machine plugged into ext jack of HP J4580. I have the answer settings on the HP J4580 set to auto/answer 2 rings (snoop mode)and answering machine to answer on 4 rings. Prior to calling ITP I tweaked the fax speed to slow and ECC to off in the fax settings using the tool button(small button top right) on the HP J4580. I do not know if this needed but it is recommended for fax issues with voip. Like I said this was while I was troubleshooting prior to calling ITP tech support but its working with those same settings so if its not broke dont fix it. I had no success testing the HP J4580 using the HP test website where you can send and receive faxes for test purposes. I had to use some free test sites and friend to confirm functionality. Dont waste your time with the HP websites test.

I have looked for a printer that was compatible with my MacBook to print on my wireless home network and have had a very difficult time up til now. I have other computers in the house, all windows (XP and Vista). My network is set up through my Windows XP desktop computer. I was finally able to print from my MacBook through the wireless network in another room! So although I just opened the box and I am not really able to review the print quality or performance, it works with my Mac and that is all the incentive I needed to make this good review of the HP J4580 All in One Printer! Awesome!

I bought this HP Officejet J4580 All-In-One along with the HP Pavilion All-In-One computer. I havent been able to use it yet. I found out that it did not support Windows 7 so I had to ask for help from HP, they were great, and they sent me a link to download a driver. It did not come with a cable to connect it to the computer, even though the HP tech said it should have come with one. I had bought a USB cable that was recommended when I ordered this, but the tech said it wasnt the correct one. It seems to fit correctly, but when I was trying to install I lost internet connection. So I will try again and see what happens.

Although inexpensive, I have owned previous models and all needed to be replaced in less than 2-3 years. Print and Fax quality arent bad for the price. Not made for heavy duty use, but if you use it for basic personal use it will fit your need for the price. Software extremely slow to install as noted in other reviews.
