This Gateway replaces a no-name computer (CTS)I bought in 2004. It had been upgraded a couple of times with more RAM plus Windows 7. It worked fine but I just thought it was time to go to a multiprocessor with 64 bit Win 7. Setup was very easy, no problems. The only I can tell that it is faster than the previous computer is the speed with which Norton goes through its file scanning. Instead of hours its just a few minutes.

I originally wanted to build my own Home Theater computer. When I saw this unit at the same cost, I decided why build my own? Well, the answer is simple, for the same money I could have a much better system.
Pro:
1. Very quite system, just what you want for this purpose.
2. RF wireless keyboard and mouse-allows you to put unit behind a cabinet door.
3. Everything was installed and worked first time.
4. MS Windows 7 Media Center is great
Con:
1. The TV tuner is a very low end unit and creates viewing that is little better than a WEB camera-very significant lapses in motion. Actually gave me a headache after an hour of watching.
2. The case used is a full sized vertical box. Not what I was expecting when you consider everything could have easily fit in a small case with little or no increase in cost.
3. The wireless remote control is an IR unit, not what you want to control your theater.
4. The unit has 2 optical drives, CD/DVD and a DVD/Blu-ray. The eject buttons built into the side of the case are very poor. They must be pushed just right to activate. They feel really cheap and I have concern about how long they will hold up.
If yo buy this, plan on purchasing and installing a better turner.
