My 10 year old niece loves it.
In good light it takes reasonably good videos.
The accompanying software sucks, but if you just pop out the SD card that you purchased separately) and into your PC SD card reader, you can transfer the videos and pictures easily.
The Disney Flix camera software is disappointing - it is just a short description of a scene in the movie.
If you want a cheap video camera this is for you!

As others have said, this camera uses batteries pretty quick. We have taken pictures and used the video on the beach. I download everything as soon as I can from the video card so that I dont lose anything. Takes a pretty good picture and the videos are pretty clear too.

I bought this for my nephew and he wont put it down. Its very user-friendly...he figured it all out without any guidance. Unfortunately the first one died within a couple of months so this is the replacement.

I lucked out and found this camera on Woot one day, got the thing for $18 plus s/h paid UNDER $23! I read and watched a few reviews, figured it was worth it, but NEVER expected it to be as great as it is! Id pay $30 for this camera if I had to.
My daughter got this from Santa and never put it down. After her uncles showed her how to change the little dial to adjust between taking still shots, video, or looking over what youve saved/how to delete....it became the number 1 toy! It takes 2 simple AA batteries and once the kid learns how to delete things to reuse the space on the camera memory, it will last for hours of fun. She goes around taking pix of her little stuffed animals, her cat, the picture on the wall, now she likes to video us sitting around, or even what cartoon shes watching on TV. I let her take it to the park, and since she travels a LOT she now takes it in the car and video tapes things on the side of the highway. Its VERY easy to use, small and perfect for their little hands, you can download the pictures/videos to your computer to save or make into the little movies (the software comes with it) and she enjoys switching out the faceplates from Hanna to HSM or Pirates every so often. Of course it doesnt have the best zoom feature, great for within 20-40 feet I suppose. You wont take it to your kids play for video unless you are lucky enough to sit very close to the stage, but it takes great shots and is fun to use.
I just broke down and bought her a 2GB SD card for extra storage so she doesnt have to delete a couple of her favorite videos shes recorded. Id suggest splurging on the extra $12 for the SD card, its a LOT more room and will definitely keep your little director happy for endless hours.
I have never been so impressed with the price and ease, and features of a gift and have never seen my daughter get so excited and use something so endlessly, and this is a kid thats pretty easy to shop for but has almost everything.
Any kid will love to play with this....and most adults will use it too!

I got this for my 8 year old son and he is enjoying taking pictures and making little movies. I wanted something for him to use without paying alot. I think this camcorder is good for him to practice with. I have not hooked the camcorder up with the computer for him to see his recording yet so I hope everything looks okay when we do. But he is having so much fun now with it. The one thing I dont like is the camcorder does not fit well with the tripod.

I bought the Disney Flix camera for my 3 year old son (since he is always using my digital camera!) I wanted one more his size - and it is! The camera is about the size of the palm on my hand and fits perfectly in his! I was also concerned that if I bought one of those other kids tough cameras that he wouldnt like it b/c it didnt look like mine. He has dropped it several times already. Sometimes the battery cover comes loose, but we just put it back on tight and he is good to go. He absolutely loves this camera! He walks around taking pictures and video of everything!
We put a 2 MB sd card in the camera so that he can take pics all day long without running out of space. It runs on AA batteries and a week later we still havent had to change them, so I am pleased with that as well.
The only complaints I have is that it makes the shutter sound and then actually takes the pictures, so you get a lot of moving pictures with a kid (not a big deal to me since I pretty much delete them all anyway) an older kid could probably acknowledge this and adjust thier skills.

good camera for the money. we paid $45 for it. its for my son to replace his v-cam now which i think is no longer available. YOU MUST BUY A MEMORY CARD IT ONLY HAS 64K WORTH OF INTERNAL MEMORY. it was only good for 2 mins worth of video. i dont know how long its going to hold up, weve only had it since easter. so far so good it has fallen once from about 3 feet and had no problems so it seems pretty stable.

You are pretty limed on the things you can do with this camera. Its fun but the video will be dark.

This is a really great camera. I bought it for my granddaughter who is 9 and she loves it. After just a short going over of the instructions she was filming everything. I do recommend getting the extra memory card though because the memory in the camera is short

I bought one of these Flix cameras used from Amazon to take with me on a trip. I intentionally went for something inexpensive, as I can be a bit hard on my electronics, and didnt want to worry if the camera was dropped or broken. I was a bit apprehensive about my purchase as some reviewers were disappointed, or had poor customer service interactions with Digital Blue.
when the camera arrived, I was astonished at how small it was. it is about the size of a pack of cigarettes [sorry, didnt have another size analog.] I figured well, this little bitty thing cant be very good. to my delight, the video and audio quality ARE very good! granted, the last video camera I used was a Hi8 camera back in art college, and had no experience with digital video cameras. believe me, it was a pleasant surprise at how well this tiny thing worked. this camera captures images with good detail and bright crisp colors. the sound is decent, too. I called Digital Blue as I own an iMac and the enclosed software wouldnt work on a Mac; the fellow who helped me was EXTREMELY kind and patient and helped me use the camera with my Mac. I can import the video into iMovie with no problem. make sure to purchase an additional memory card with your camera; I did, and now have one hours recording time.
no, the zoom isnt great; it pixilates the zoomed in object. but I carry this camera in my car in case I need it for emergencies, or just to shoot things I come across. the cameras small size makes it easy to fit into any purse or even a pocket. I recommend this camera highly. I bought mine for about 40.00, and it has served me well- and yes, I did drop it. it still works just fine!
if I have any questions at all, Digital Blue answers them fully and are generous with their time. give this little camera a try, especially if you are on a budget, but still want to shoot video. it does not work well in very low light conditions, but will shoot indoors with adequate ambient room light. it records distant vistas just fine, too. AND it takes very decent still photos!
I used it to record a raccoon family eating peaches that fell from my tree at night, using a flashlight. the video came out a little grainy, but it recorded the lighted objects adequately, making for a fun little memory video. all in all, again, a great little purchase. I HIGHLY recommend this product.

We bought this for our 8yr old son who loves making his own movies. He enjoys it and its made well. The only things wed like to see changed for future versions of this is a volume control (its pretty loud when theyre reviewing a movie they took) and an easy on/off switch. Aside from that were quite happy with the purchase! Oh,buy some rechargable batteries for this since it eats up regular ones farily quick if your little one is a budding film maker!

My son loves his Disney Flix Video! We find it very creative and it helps him use his imagination while he captures certain moments. The special effects available from the software are lots of fun.
