I am more of a picture gal, but my boyfriend prefers to remember things with movies. I got this as a gift for him and he loves how easy everything is. it is incredibly light weight and easy to use. Im not sure if hes had a chance to really play around with putting everything on computers but from what i can tell so far, the quality is good. So far a ton of videos have been stored on there without memory issues.
The location of the USB is a little strange and, not that hes needed to stand it up, the pull tab would get in the way.

I am traveling right now and this camera has come in handy quite a bit. Its easy to carry around, simple to operate and plugs right into your computer for easy drop off. There is not an external memory option on this camera but it the amount of time you get with internal memory is plenty of room for short or long videos. Its a good camera.

I bring this for vacation and special occasions... I love it so much I sometimes leave it to my pocket book :)
Its very light, quality is good. I tried it charging using MAC and the vado start to act funny like it wont turn on, it only happened one time though.

Very good for the money. I havent mastered the software to make movies yet. Slow to upload to video sites, but if youre not in hurry, no big deal. Amazing that this little tiny recorder creates great video that plugs into your HD TV with the included HDMI cable and it looks simply wonderful. This is the old one, but Im very happy with it. Ill never buy a big, quality recorder. This device is zero hassle.

Positive: Overall great quality and ease of use. I loved this part.
Negative: The software it comes is not the best, you cannot splice movie clips, if you want to see the clips you took one someones computer you need to install the plug-in that comes with VADO HD. Normal Windows Media Player will play sound only. Also, I used mine with a protective case for underwater video, the case leaked water and destroyed the camera. It is not rated for water obviously. Sometimes you cannot see outside on the light, if recording mode is ON or OFF. Thanks.

My main use is to video tennis matches (see [...] to see how). It has a slight wide angle effect (apparently not present in other flip cameras) that covers the court very well when mounted on the top of the fence, but Ive used it to record music at a local open stage and for lots of other stuff. Great quality, easy to use, lightweight, etc. People are amazed when I show it to them and tell them how long it can record. I ordered an extra battery that was very useful at a local tournament as the battery is the limiting factor. With two batteries, I can get four hours + of hd video. Not bad for the price!

This is great camcorder for the price!
Pros:
1) Cellphone like size, small and sturdy with matte finish (no fingerprints)
2) 2 hours battery life (HD+ mode, longer at lower resolution), user replaceable.
3) 2 screen clear and bright.
4) 8GB built-in memory, dont need to shell out more money for memory.
5) Include HDMI cable and a USB extension cable.
6) Simple and easy control.
7) HD output to HDTV is outstanding.
Cons:
1) Clear rubber sleeve doesnt quite match camcorders style, it is free though and does provide some protection.
2) Rubber tab on the bottom for the USB connector, looks bad. It is easy to trim off (I did) and you can still pull out the connector without the tab.
3) Sound recording is OK but not stereo.
4) Only 2X digital zoom.
5) Minimal software included.
6) Wish the len doesnt stick out but flush with camcorder just for the look.
For the current sale price this cant be beat. On the go HD camcorder this is very convenient. Great to have it around for quick recording, just keep your hand steady!

It is very cheap. And it is HD. The quality is very good, especially for the price right now on your site. The sound quality is ok, people say it is very bad, but it is actually good, but not very good. It is very light and small. The camera feels very nice and comfortable, it has a matte finish. It comes with a USB extension cable. The USB is built in, so you can take it anywhere, video tape anywhere, upload anywhere, and watch anywhere. The playback on the video camera is good, so you can preview something before you watch it on a computer or a tv. It comes with a mini HD to HD wire so you can connect it to an HD screen. And it comes with a case.

This camera is great. I had the first flip cam, then the 2nd gen, and now this Vado... Im happiest with this one, as the buttons are easy to use, compared with the Flip. How those on the Flip ever got green-lighted is amazing, since you never knew if it was starting to record or not.
The dongle is great, since you dont have to try to get your cameras body right up against a possibly loaded up computer that already has many cables in the way.
The battery life must be outstanding, since Ive never run it down. I record til Im done and never pay it any mind. Since I usually watch my baby movies with family within the day or next few days, its being charged up by plugging it into the computer to watch them (the usb connection charges the camera... no power cord. Excellent).
Cons:
1) My first one was dead on arrival. Actually not DOA, but the battery wouldnt hold a charge for more than a few seconds, but Amazing was incredible... I stuck it in a drawer and forgot about it during a busy time and about SIX MONTHS later came across it and mentioned it to them. They said they would make a one-time exception and sent me a brand new one that arrived in a day or two! They also sent a pick-up slip for my other one. Incredible.
2) While the buttons are excellent compared with the Flip, there is a slight delay before RECORD comes on, and on a few occasions it didnt come on, but in the sun it was hard to see with the green or red light was on... in short, missed a few movies, but thats out of hundreds. Advice: Count to three before hitting RECORD after you hit power. With the Flip you could almost immediately press RECORD after hitting the power button, and with luck, youd be recording.
Pros:
1) See above about your sites customer service
2) Battery life
3) Vid and audio quality
4) So small and light you dont know its on you... I have to check all my pockets before I find it sometimes, thinking oh, thats my cellphone when its the camera
5) Nice screen, though hard to see in direct sunlight
6) The replacement seems sturdy as heck
Overall, there are always new models and brands coming out and Im sure theres a 1080p just around the corner, or maybe already is, Im not keeping up with them anymore... cuz Im happy with this one. If it lasts five years and my cellphone of the future doesnt have a camera this good built in, Ill keep using this one as long as it lasts.
Note: The movies start getting large with the higher resolution, and since Im happy with the quality, no need to go higher in quality or size. I dont want to wait that much longer to upload my movies to Flickr.com (get a premium account with them, if you want to share family movies! Only a few bucks a year, 20 or so and it rocks for streaming private family movies online!).
P.S. The four stars is due to the record button working 95-99% of the time, instead of 100%, and for the first one being DOA.

Ive only owned the pocket video camera a short while, but it is very handy and has worked perfectly fine. After an extensive online search and comparison, I am glad that I purchased the Creative Labs Vado. I have always found Creative Labs to produce good products for a great price, and this camera did not disappoint.

I took this camera and my 12 mp, wide angle lens picture camera, with HD video feature to the park, to a mall, and indoor living room, at night. Both did excellent outdoor and at the mall, but at night, the Vado was blurry, colors washed out, no sharpness. It only surpased the picture camera in the zoom, not as choppy. Copy to the PC very easy. Considering that I can carry as much memory I need for my picture camera, without worrying about how much memory I have left, I say the picture camera wins hands down. And it is slightly thicker than the Vado. I also have a Sony HDR-CX100, equally good outside and equally bad inside like the Vado, with a not friendly software, and cost me $500.- So, considering the cost, I would give the Vado 5 stars, if werent for the night shots. I will keep it as a back-up..

You cannot go wrong with this one...creative offers much more than its competitors, very simple, handy and easy to operate with excellent image and audio quality.
I also have a high end camcorder, but find myself using only this pocket camcorder...its ease of use, makes it a perfect gift for elderly people in family.
Bought one at your site for good price, however have ordered two more for the price of one on a deal!!
For people who are not able to decide to go for this model or the new one...
Except for following two enhancements,
1. body finish and
2. mac enabled
There is no other difference between this model and the new model Creative Labs Vado HD 8 GB Pocket Video Camcorder, 2nd Generation (Black Gloss with Maroon Accents)
So, if you are a windows user dont shell out extra dollars on new model!!

This is the second camera Ive purchased of this exact model. It is good for simple HD videos, but action shots and low lights are not very good with it. To see some examples of video recorded with it, check out my youtube channel at [...]. Besides the first couple videos I posted there, they are all recorded with this camera.

I bought the Vado HD over a year ago and have used it off and on since that time. Mostly just short clips, hanging out with my family. I did take it on a trip overseas and did quite a bit of recording with it, but because I had an older computer the videos never played well, they were always sluggish and choppy. Anyway, fast forward to 2010 when I finally purchased a new computer to replace my outdated 5 year old desktop. I stumbled on my Vado HD last night with all my recorded videos over the past year and let me tell you the video is spectacular. The quality produced by such a small piece of equipment is amazing, and the fact that its so inexpensive just boggles my mind. The recordings both indoors with low light and outdoors with sunlight is amazing. The sensor manages to pick up on tiny details that my old camcorder would have missed.
For those looking for a professional HD camera, you obviously have to look elsewhere. One simply can not pack all the features you need into a camera that will easily fit into your pocket. It does not have optical zoom and the sound recording is less than optimal.
But if youre looking for something small to take with you on vacation or out and about then this little camera will do the trick.

Great ultra portable video camera. If you want to see the actual performance of the Vado, just go to Youtube and you will see tons of clips.
FEATURES:
- 720 HD
- Easy one-button operation to shoot and pause
- Easy transfer to PC via built-in USB connector
- USB charging
- RCA (AV cable not included) connection for older TVs
- Instant preview on a 2-inch LCD screen
- A tripod mount on the base
- 2x digital zoom (not excited about that, but at least it has a zoom)
I am happy that Creative is not skimping on this product. Along with the camera, it also includes an HDMI cable, an additional USB extension (the Vado already has a USB connector at the base of the camera), and comes with its own protective silicone shell. Another cool thing is that after using the the USB connector, it snaps back in its place magnetically.
You can charge the battery in two speeds. Fast charging in 4.5 hours and normal charging in 7 hours. The common law about charging battery is to avoid express charging as it produces more heat which results in shorter battery life. Charge normally unless you are in a hurry. Also, you can only watch and transfer videos while normal charging. The battery is easy to install just like a nomal cell phone.
HOW MUCH VIDEO CAN YOU STORE IN THIS?
-You have an option to select 3 video resolutions:
2 hrs - for enhanced HD resolution (this is the default)
4 hrs - for nomal HD resolution
8 hrs - for VGA resolution (640 x 480)
VADA BUILT-IN EDITOR:
- The Vado comes with its own movie editor installer in the camera hard drive. You are supposed to be able to upload to 3 sites; YouTube, Photobucket and [...]. The problem is, what you can do is very limited unless you buy the 20$ software upgrade from their site. With the included limited editor, you can only edit 3 clips and can insert only 1 music. In short, useless. Now I tried the free Picassas own movie editor and was able to make a file in HD and upload to Youtube.
MAC & IMOVIE?
- Vado was instantly recognized by my Macbook (1st generation white plastic with 2G memory, running on Snow Leopard). iMovie 6 was able to do edit with transitions but I still cannot find a way to export a 720P HD output. I tried DV, Mov, etc and still producing less res.
Made in China.
CONS:
- Microphone is a little weak
- Artifacts are magnified: 1) under low light and 2) Scenes with sharp contrast.
TIPS FOR SHOOTING WITH VADO:
1) As with other portable HD cameras, one of the main weaknesses of this type of camera is panning (shooting from left to right or side to side). Avoid panning as possible. Just do it occasionally, just to spice up the video.
2) Steady your hands as best as you can.
FEATURES:
