Audubon Plush Bird
Description:
The California Quail Plush Bird by Wild Republic is part of the Audubon Game Birds Plush Collection. The Audubon California Quail bird plush stands 6 tall and makes a real bird call sound. This birdcall was produced by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. This great bird also comes with it's own information card with tons of facts about the California Quail! This game bird is the state bird of California. They have black throats circled in white and black plumes (males) on the top of their heads. Most of their time is spent at ground level, seeking out vegetation, seeds and nuts. It is not uncommon to see large groups, or coveys, of close to 100 of these WatchList birds. Nests are usually hidden at ground level, but may be made in trees.

I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful Plush Quail. I bought this gift for my father who feeds the California Quail in his backyard and he loved it. Purchased one of these for my daughter as a reward for her spotting a CA Valley Quail on a hike, the goal of which was to encourage her to learn about native wildlife. Audubon has done a great thing to stimulate kids interest in native birds. The store at Pinnacles National Monument stocks a number of these Audubon birds native to the park. Wonderful idea that would likely be well-accepted at other State and county parks.

This toy is great. We recently moved from the west coast, to the east coast.
We had a large group of quail in our back yard in Washington state, and we really miss them. This toy looks really close to the real thing, and the mating call is dead-on accurate because its an actual recording.
The attached booklet explains the bird in detail, and even shows a map of migration patterns. This toy would be ideal for someone in the teaching community.
