I got this product mostly because I was hoping to use the FM Transmitter. As another reviewer mentioned, it doesnt work very well. Theres always some static, more often than not a lot of static.
Also, the product description claims it has a 14 hour battery life, but in reality it seems to be less than 10. The touch screen is fairly dull, I have trouble scrolling or making fine adjustments. The earbuds are less comfortable than the iPod earbuds I have left over from the iPod Shuffle I bought this to replace.
Fortunately, I happened to get a new car that has a USB connector on the radio. It works well with that, because that keeps it charged and I can control it through the radio. I am still considered returning this and getting a used iPod instead.

This Archos unit takes some patience in getting used to its quirky functions but once mastered, Id recommend it. However, if your main purpose is to use the FM transmitter to play through your car you will be disappointed. Sometimes it plays OK, other times it has interference that makes it unuseable and yes, I know the headset must be plugged in and volumes need to be tweaked. Just not what I expected. Other than that I like its sound and the display is very good. It took awhile to figure out how to download custom playlists but now that is fine. In doing this I suggest simply bypassing the Windows Media Player and work solely out of your My Music files. Just open My Music and copy and paste into a folder you create on the Archos.

Got this Archos almost as soon as it came out.
the manual was not much help and it was about 2 weeks until I discovered a whole other menu by sliding my finger to the side on the home menu. from there you can adjust settings and such.
I had a Sandisk Sansa e250 before and it was all fine until the sound gave out.
the Archos has a really nice layout and is bright and easy to read, totally not grainy like outdated electronics.
it was easy to make up to 5 playlists under favorites, as opposed to one or none on other players.
its a really nice looking player with a great display.
camera is just for fun though- pictures were small and grainy, but hey. its easy to snap a picture and set it as your background on it.
sadly, it didnt last too long as I dropped one of my sneakers on it and the screen pulverized. I didnt imagine anything of the sort happening after my extremely durable Sansa. very disappointing and a waste of $100 for a player that I only got to enjoy for a month, after that accident.
Im afraid to buy other touch screens now for fear of the same thing happening.

I chose the 3cam over the regular 3 vision because of hopes that the camera and photo would be worth having. Even though I havent had much use for it so far, having the ability to put my favorite shows on it is great. The screen has a great picture and the music sounds great, having the radio is a huge plus too. I have not had any problems with the transmitter being weak like some other people have stated, you just have to tune it correctly. I would recommend it for anyone looking for something different than an Ipod. The only downside I can honestly say is the lack of info they give you from the directions on how to use it, but for avg. tech people its no problem.

I really like the set of features this offers in a compact package with reasonable price. The little manual that comes with it doesnt do it justice; there are more capabilities that you can discover on your own or in the right forums. It amazes me on how well the little thing can play movies, and of course I expected its great performance on various music formats.
Some features only seem to have the most basic functionality, like the microphone and FM transmitter seem weak, and the camera/video taking isnt terribly sharp. And it can be hard at times to navigate audio books. But maybe I havent gotten it tuned up optimally... I found right away that some of the default settings were directed toward another continent. Pretty happy for the price though.
