I bought these same earbuds from Best Buy 5 yrs ago for a lot more money. They just gave out after 5 yrs! They are great @ the gym, on an airplane or blocking out hubbys snoring with music! They work with all of my mp3 players (Ipod touch 2nd gen too) & even on my cell phone for music listening! Sound is great & soft squishy ear buds fit inside ear & never fall out!

I bought these about five months ago. I searched your sites earbud sales high and low, and finally decided that I wanted these. Overall, I enjoyed my purchase.

Pros:
Great sound. I followed everyones advice and put tape on the ends to take off some of the bass and they sounded great!
Comfortable. They fit in my ears perfectly. I just rolled em in my fingers, put them in my ears, held them for a second, and I could feel them expand to the size of my ear. Some of my friends couldnt get them to stay in, though.
Great price! For only like twelve bucks, they really were worth it. Ive payed a lot more for worst quality buds.

Cons:
Didnt last. After only 4 months, the right ear bud started to flicker in and out. A week later and the right bud was gone entirely.

So, if you want a quick, good pair of ear buds and dont mind that they wont last long then pick these up!

I recently started riding. As a very serious musician, I do not take my ears for granted. Every time I ride, I have ear plugs - in addition to the helmet. This is great for preserving my hearing in the long term - I rode once without the plugs and ended up with ear ringing for a while; a sign of permanent damage.
That was during a trip out of state - I needed to use a GPS to help me get where I was going. My bikes not a cruiser or a tourer, and there wasnt a good spot for it to sit on my handlebars, so I was listening to it instead.

This turned out to be a problem. In an effort to hear the GPS over the wind, I had to turn it to damaging levels in my ear buds. After that, I swore not to use a GPS until I found something that would isolate noise in a comfortable fashion.

After weeks of research, I decided to give these guys a try. They work just like normal ear plugs - a little bit more difficult to put in though because of the solid cores. Mostly I got these because the cost was nothing like the alternatives - some of the other sets I looked at were around $100. At under $20, it was worth a shot.

And theyre fantastic. Not quite as good as normal -33db plugs, but just as comfortable (package comes with two sets, I had to use the larger plugs). The sound was only so-so; although they boom like some reviews say, they really dont have that low of a register (a good pair should hit around 6Hz, I think these bottomed out at 20Hz? I dont remember). But thats okay - now I can listen to a GPS while on my bike; and its clearly over wind noise at 20-30% audio on the GPS.

Theres no VOL adjust on these, so YMMV, but for $20, isnt it worth the shot?

I really wanted to love these earbuds because they are so comfortable and fit perfectly in my ear. They drown out noise around me and I dont even notice theyre in my ears. Ive had so many problems trying to find earbuds that didnt hurt my ears when I put them in. Glory when I found these! Unfortunately Ive went through 5 pairs and each one of them ended up the same way...shorted out near the ear piece. I take really good care of them, but every pair Ive had seems to short out until one of the earbuds no longer works. I kept buying them because I loved them, but now its just getting too pricey to keep purchasing over and over. They last almost a year, so I guess if you dont mind spending about 10 bucks every 7-9 months, go for it. They are worth the comfort if you can afford to replace them.

This will be my second pair of earplugs since I flat-out wore out the last set.

Understand that you have to squish the foam part before sticking it in your ear. That way, it conforms to your ears contours, wont fall out, and blocks nearly all outside noise. I would listen to my iPod while riding my lawn tractor, running a weed whacker, or flying in a noisy commuter aircraft and not have to crank up the volume; thus, its easy on your eardrums while sounding really, really good.

If youre looking for good sound quality for a really good price, these are a good option... Ive found the SPARKPLUG sounds as good as some far higher-end plug-style earphones, and delivers particularly excellent bass response for such a tiny earbud. I noticed a few complaints among reviewers about them being excessively bass-heavy... I doubt it was the earbuds themselves, but most likely caused by the devices they were listening to them with. Sadly most portable audio devices come with a heavy bass-boost by default, to compensate for the poor base response of most earbuds and cheap headphones... combine that with phones that actually have decent bass response, and naturally it will sound excessive. This is easily remedied by adjusting the bass boost/equalizer settings of your device. Listening with my iPod classic with no extra bass boost on the equalizer settings, these have the bass sounding just about perfect for a wide variety of music.

Now the bad news... with a cheap price comes cheap design. This is the second pair of SPARKPLUG earbuds Ive owned--theyre a bit flimsy, and my first pair bit the dust when one of the cords pulled loose from the earbud after a slight tug. That was after a year and a half of heavy use though, so considering the dirt cheap price, thats actually not an unreasonable lifespan. I was a bit disappointed to find that the design had been cheapened even more on the second set I picked up... since the first pair I purchased, numerous design changes were made that were subtle but eventually noticeable, because none of the changes were good:

- Sticky rubber cord- the first pair I had came with a glossy-surfaced cord that remarkably avoided tangling far better than most earbud cords Ive dealt with before. The second pair had a completely different sticky rubbery material coating the cord that allows the cord to tangle easily, and worse, gets stuck on things easily... combine tangling + getting hooked on things, and you end up with a spontaneously shortened cord yanking the earbuds out of your ears all too frequently.

- Less supple foam for the ear plugs- the original pair had rather supple foam plugs that could easily be twisted into a shape and size that fit into the ear quite well and provided great noise insulation... the downside was that it would also come loose from the earphone itself quite easily, so it was easy for the plugs to fall off after a few months of use. The newer pair has the opposite problem--now the foam is too rigid and doesnt allow the plug to fit as securely in the ear. But at least the plug doesnt get lost all the time. Both the old and new models also had a little yuck-factor to deal with... the foam collects earwax easily, but thats kind of too be expected as they go *in your ears*. Usually any detritus is easily brushed off the plug, and if they get too dirty, the plugs are replaceable (a few extras come with it, and if you can track them down, Koss also sells cheap multi-packs of additional replacement plugs).

- Switch from 90-degree angle plug to straight plug- a nice design feature of the earlier models was a 90-degree angle plug that didnt stick out too far from the side of the device it was plugged into (and happened to make it fit nicely with my iPod flip cover). Newer models have a straight plug that sticks out almost an inch from whatever its plugged into... the combination of sticky cord and straight plug mean its much easier to get the cord snagged and either yank the earbuds from your ears or the cord out of your audio device.

So in summary, Id say for the bargain price of around $15, youre getting darn good audio quality, but in terms of the physical qualities of the product, well, youre getting your $15 worth.

These headphones will definitely do the job for you: They isolate the sound just as the product claims. The black earplug foam also acts as a neat way to snugly fit the headphones into your ears, so they dont slip as easily as their in-ear headphone counterparts (iPod headphones, anyone?)...

Product looks exactly the same as in picture. purchased on your site.

- Blocks out very little outside noise. better than regular head phones, but not what i was expecting.
- very comfortable
- sensitive cord. makes loud sounds in your ear when you touch it or bump it slightly. this is very disappointing.
- bass is good for me

I purchased these back in January and was quite disappointed when I first got them. I was replacing a pair of the same headphones and these are not the same as they used to be. The picture is misleading. The ones I got did not have the 90 degree plug. It was a straight plug. That may not seem like a big deal, but plugged into my mp3 player and put in my pocket put so much stress on the plug that as of 2 days ago it failed. Only one ear works now unless I futz with the wire trying to get it to reconnect, then hold it in place - which is obviously not practical.

In addition, this newer set seemed to have a different driver which was not nearly as bass-y without a re-adjustment of my eq... Again, just not the same. Not sure what to buy now. I wish they had left a great set of earphones alone.

Oh and they sound great too.

The Koss sparkplugs are shaped completely different and therefore fit into your ear completely differently. I have always had problems with earbuds falling out, the sparkplugs solve that problem. Even while chewing gum (which invariably worked my other earbuds free).

If that is the problem you are looking to solve, buy em.

The concept is great - insertable, moldable foam earplugs. The problem I had was keeping them in my ears because the outside of each plug is much heavier than the foam part that you insert. For someone elses ears, these might actually be perfect!

i bought these because with other headphones i couldnt hear my mp3 player good enough over my drums to jam along to stuff...but these headphones kill!

they actually work so good that at full volume on my mp3 player i cant even hear my drums at all, even when im really bashing on them!

if youre looking for some good isolation phones for drumming, or any other kind of music, save a ton of money by buying these. youll be glad you did.

These headphones reproduce sound quite well, but seem to lack in the lower frequencies. Perhaps this is wholly due however to the fact that for me anyway, the fit isnt up to the usual standard. I have had many other headphones and earbuds that fit better in the ear. These just dont want to go in very far or to stay there. But for the price, and to have as say, a back-up pair, these work well. They might get a little tiresome for everyday, long-term use. But again, maybe they dont fit ME too well and others might not have that problem. Apart from the fit, they do sound quite nice.

These sparkplugs are the best value in ear buds for about twelve bucks or so.

I do the trick of covering up the holes with a little circle of clear adhesive tape and the sound compares to any buds or mini-headphones Ive tried. The spongy rubbery covers are VERY comfortable and do a great job of blocking out noise on an airplane or in the subway and you get two sizes.

Koss will replace them if damaged for a fee if you mail them in; theyve replaced mine three times over the years and been very nice about it when Ive called, great customer service. However, I keep a spare pair because I cant stand to be without them for even a week, I went through that the first time I had them replaced and never again. I threw out four pairs of earbuds and two headphones and gave a pair of Apple iPod ear buds away after that incident, none compare under fifty bucks, at least not that Ive tried.

My only complaint is the cord tends to tangle when youre not wearing them but thats not peculiar to this brand.
