Great camera with excellent results. Takes great panoramas and close-ups. In all a very happy customer.
The only downside is, you cant use it with a normal batteries, eats them away very quickly. But rechargeable KLIC 8000 batteries work for a long time.

This was a good upgrade for our family. Picture quality is excellent. Pretty easy to use overall. The video feature is really nice quality although if youre using it in a high volume setting (concert, etc.) the sound recording is not great.

My only real complaint about this camera so far is that its a battery monster. If you get this camera, plan on investing in some really, really good rechargeable batteries. Otherwise it will eat batteries like crazy.

I got mine as a refurbish deal so it is definitely worth the money we paid for it!!!

I initially had a previous version of a Kodak easyshare (I believe it was a 650, but at this time I cant remember) and while I was deployed my wife happen to drop it and it quit working. So enter your site and the search for a new camera. My wife is a technophobe (afraid of technology), so when considering another camera I had to make sure it was close to the old one because she knew how that worked, and since I am deployed I cannot show her in person how a new one worked.

As I start searching for a new camera of course I start with new items, but alas I am miser and I dont want to spend a fortune on something that may break within a year or so. (I will caveat that the last Kodak easyshare was still working great after three years and was still working great until my wife dropped it on the ground at a bowling alley. lens first no less - and that camera had been all over the place, including Egypt).

After searching new I fell upon the idea of refurb - I personnaly have been buying refurb products for the last couple of years and havent seen any problems. Both my iPods and Macbook Pro are refurbs.

I searched all the Kodaks and Fuji and Panasonic and ended up with the Z812IS. The price was fantastic (under $120 total) and the features were better than the last model. The MP is higher from 6.1 up to 8.2, the Optical focus is up form 10x to 12x, so you can get that much closer. Some of the buttons have changed and it takes a little longer to navigate them. One major improvement is the capability to use AA batteries instead of just the CRV3/or rechargeable Kodak battery (Which I use). If you dont have the rechargeable then I suggest the Energizer Lithium batteries - the best on the market. The one item I do miss is the automatic sport function on the selection knob on top. I have never used the email function. The clarity and ease of use make this a top quality camera for a low low price (refurb only).

For those looking for a high quality camera, easy use camera for technophobes and a cheap camera (refurb) than I highly reccomend this one.

Thanks

I would not want any other camera. this takes Perfect pictures. Have had no problems except when using low end batteries they do use up quick, I am talking 500 pictures quick. I now purchased the Kodak rechargeable battery to go with this camera and it takes pictures forever. No problems otherwise. just dont be cheap about your batteries

Buy lithium batteries. If you do this, you will love the camera as much as I do. Very high quality photos and the camera was a resonable price. I am very pleased with this product

Just a few quick comments, as you have so many to wade through!

The BATTERY ISSUE is clear-the manual states: Lithium digital camera battery CRV3, rechargeable Lithium Ion battery, OR AA LITHIUM! No where does it indicate AA Alkaline-they will barely power this camera, So, if you are installing AA Alkaline, and it powers up, youll get 5 minutes. Rechargeable AA Ni-MH batteries, wont even boot the device. So, the catch phrase is LITHIUM, NOT Alkaline.

I purchased my Z812 IS refurbished,($141.00, like brand new,)and it works flawlessly with AA LITHIUM batteries. Ive taken about 100 pix and have been exploring the menu system, and not a hint of the dreaded battery gauge on screen. (Im waiting for my rechargeable to arrive.)

This camera does many things well and offers excellent pix at pretty much any setting. I am particularly impressed with the stabilization and auto focus at full zoom. Well done!

Im still familiarizing myself with it, but wanted to clarify the battery situation for those who may not seek this camera for that reason. At the prices now, its a must buy for those looking for image quality and loads of features in an Ultra-Zoom (Not to mention, HD pix and Video) for minimum cash outlay.

Great buy.

I purchased this camera a little over a year ago, and even though I have not mastered all of its functions, I have been very pleased with the product. I studied some photography, and was always a little hesitant to get into the digital camera craze (though this is my second digital camera). I was looking to get back into photography, but didnt want to spend so much money for an XLR, and then I came across this camera. Its surprising light weight, but still packs a powerful punch. I love its features (the ones Ive played with thus far) and I look forward to exploring even more. I took this camera with me to the Caribbean for my cousins wedding, and when I sent the photos around everyone thought they were the prints of the professional who did the wedding. I am very happy with my camera!

I got my Z812is about 8 months ago and took about 1000 pictures and maybe 50 videos so far. This is my first digital camera so I cant compare it to other ones. The Good: picture quality, video quality, zoom, the time you need to wait between pictures is minimal. Bad, or not so good: It eats batteries for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It doesnt even work on a regular AA batteries, I had to get Lithium ones witch dont last very long. It is a little balky, so you cant just stick it in your pocket. I wish it had a sleep mode button, because if I turn it on and off, it eats batteries, if I leave it on, it eats batteries. It does go to a sleep mode after few minutes, and then turns off after few more, but I wish there was a button for it. I will get a rechargeable battery pack and will update this review later. The picture quality is good, but they are big in size. Pictures will be anywhere from 0.8MB up to over 2MB in size.

Aaah, Kodak! My first digital camera was a Kodak several years ago (C300). It served me quite well for a long time and thousands of photos. But I began wanting something a bit more up-to-date and high-quality. I have owned several other brands since buying that first faithful camera, but almost all have quit working while the C300 still gets the job done (if the pictures are low resolution).

So, when I began shopping for a new camera - I was favoring Kodak. My experiance has been that their WasyShare line cameras are generally well-built, reliable camera (if sometimes a bit quirky).

I found the Z812is back in June when my family and I were planning a week-long vacation. The resolution was pretty impressive (at 8.2mp). The 12x Optical Zoom seemed useful, and the price (at that time) was decent.

I did not review this camera immediately, because I wanted to really put this camera through its paces.

Im not a professional photographer by any means, though I do take a pretty good family/scenic shot from time to time if I do say so myself. But this is a great camera for still photos. The colors are sharp, the features are useful and plentiful, and the camera is easy to use. Here are some of my findings.

Pros;
1) Good resolution (enlarge to 16 x 22 with no real pixelation).
2) Zoom (gets you right into the shot from a distance).
3) weight (I find that a heavier camera is often easier to hold steady).
4) Manual button controls (I do not like the trend of some toward touch-screen and heavily menu based controls) but this camera has REAL button controls.

Cons;
1) Video feature (Video looks pretty good, but the audio is horrible if you are in a noisy location).
2) You really do need the lithium-ion battery pack (but you can get a generic that is cheaper than the name brand).
3) Start-up time (I find this camera to be a bit slow when first turning it on, so power up in anticipation of that once-in-a-lifetime shot).

In conclusion - If you want a great (CONSUMER-LEVEL) point and shoot camera with a great zoom, this is it.
If you want a camera that does well with video - look into an actual video camera. But for the family photographer - this is a great investment.

By the way - you WILL need to pick up an SD/SDHC card as the file size of one photo tends to be in the 1.3mb plus range. I suggest at least a four gig card because they are so cheap now.

I purchased the Z812IS to upgraded from my 1974 Minolta SRT201 35mm SLR camera (stop the laughing). I got tired of waiting to see if my pictures were any good after developing. Ive only used it a handful of times, mainly for photographing race cars. I like the very short shutter delay. (I think its 0.23 sec.)The camera also takes exceptional pictures at a distance. For cars in motion, its easy to pan along with them to get that speed effect, using a shutter speed of less than 1/320,and the screen view finder do not go blank when taking pictures at a slower shutter speed.
I also used it to photograph close ups of morning glorys. The detail is outstanding.
For the batteries, I purchased 2 KODAK(KLIC-8000)Li-Ion rechargeables.
I also purchased a KODAK High Performance 2GB memory card. I dont know the performane of this(or why I bought it), but the 2GB memory card that came with the camera is sufficient, holding over 700 photos. The most Ive put on it at 1 shooting was 195.
The Image Stabilization is great. I think someone with Parkinsons Disease could easily take perfect pictures.
Nuf said. As of this date, I highly recommend this camera.

Bought this camera 4 months ago and cant tell you how many batteries we go through. This camera takes very good pictures and if you can work all the functions it has it can take excellent pictures. Its a bit bigger than the standard pocket cameras, but its very sturdy in the hand especially if your at the zoo hanging over the wall a bit to get a picture of a sea lion.

As an art/design instructor in a high school, I needed to find a camera which was durable enough for multiple users, had solid optical, had features which were easy to understand, and was at a reasonable price to be able to afford to buy multiple cameras. After reading many reviews, I purchased the Kodak Z1812IS.

After six months of the students using these, I am still impressed by the quality of both photo and video for the camera. Also, I particularly appreciate the aperture and shutter priority settings, which still give the user the ability to have some control over settings vs. a point and shoot. Also, the optical properties of the lens are of good quality. I was impressed for the price and would not hesitate to recommend this camera.

As stated in my title, I have the 8.1MP version. I am writing my review here because my version is not available on your site. From what I can see, my camera looks exactly like the 8.2MP version. It has a 2.5in./6.4cm LCD screen. It is also High Definition. There are different mode settings for the flash (auto/off, red eye, fill), focus (close-up/macro, landscape, manual, normal), & drive(self-timer, burst, exposure bracketing, normal). There are several capture modes for the camera including smart scene, which analyzes the scene you are photographing & choses the best settings for that situation. There are other settings that allow for more artistic control over your photos, panoramic views, videos, & more. Overall, this camera takes great pictures & is easy to use.
My camera, which was not purchased through your site, came with a shoulder strap, lens cover, USB cable, video cable, cd-rom software, & instruction booklet.
For use with this camera, I also recommend:
