This watch provides all the basic functions that anyone would need at a very good value. No batteries to replace, and its always accurate. What more could one ask for? If youre active in sports, its even better.[[ASIN:B000FPX5WU Casio Mens G-Shock Solar Atomic Watch #GW700A-1V]] I have & prefer the GW700A-9V since it has a beige face, and the housing does not have red accents.

Ive only had mine for a couple of months. It took a few days in the window before the charge got full up.

Pros:
1. Full auto EL backlight (comes on when you hold watch at typical viewing angle and only in the dark).
2. Time, day-of-week, month and day-of-month all on display.
3. Automatic synch with Atomic clock signal from Ft. Collins, CO (3 times per night)

Cons:
1. High profile, bulky, gets caught on things (16mm thick)
2. Many users report only 18 month battery life. (People buy Solar thinking that theyll never need to replace the battery only to find out that theyll need to replace it even more often. You can buy non-solar watches with 10 year batteries!)
3. Not good for night workers as the Atomic sync tends to fail if the watch is moving around and sync schedule not adjustable.
4. Watch case extends into the band and specialized band will likely not last as long as rest of watch.

I spent a long time looking at watches on your site and other websites - it can make you a little nuts trying to decide which you want. The variety can be overwhelming.
I found the search options to limit the search to features I thought I may want very helpful. Even so, reading and seeing a picture isnt as helpful as seeing and holding the item. On the other hand, few stores could have the variety of stock that a website such as your site can provide.
As to the watch I bought - it came set for region and correct time, so all I needed to do was to put it on. Ive had it for a couple of months now, and everything seems to work as described. The watch accuracy is fine, and switching from feature to feature seems pretty clear, though the buttons can be difficult to operate. The display looks fine, very easy to read. The light is also fine, it illuminates the watch face very clearly and evenly. Its meant to be a sports or casual watch, and the features are very good for that and for travel purposes. The choice of time zones and local time around the world was an important reason for me to buy the watch, and there are many choices to make adjusting the watch to new local time easy.
The only reason its not a 5 star watch is that the watch is rather thick (about half and inch). Its an attractive watch despite its bulk. For a watch designed to take abuse and provide a lot of features, especially a solar powered battery, this is probably necessary, but it means I may buy another watch for dress purposes.

This is a basically good watch, but be sure to save your receipt. Mine is out of warrenty anyway, but the stopwatch function button has cracked in half and the repair charge estimate from Casio is $50. The positives stated by others are legit. But you have to wonder about G-Shock durability or at least the basic design. I have no idea how it broke, just that at some point the button broke in two and then fell off! Not too useful since as a runner I use the stopwatch function almost daily. There may be better model choices as I think the concept is still reasonable.

Its great to be able to buy a super-accurate watch at an affordable price without the illustrious name(s) of Rolex or Omega attached to it.

I like this watch, but its not perfect. The tough solar and atomic functions work great. Although it has 5 alarms (4 and a snooze alarm), it doesnt have a countdown alarm.

My previous solar-powered G-shock only lasted 6 years before the battery died. Is that the lifetime of the product, as the tough-solar claims? It was not easy to find a replacement battery for that older watch, and Ive heard that water resistance often fails after opening the watch up to replace the battery. Youre supposed to change out the rubber seals inside every few years too, but that doesnt appear easy or plausible. Its not like theres anyplace online where you could buy them, for example.

For a G-shock this watch is actually fairly small, but compared to most watches it is indeed bulky. Its smaller than my last watch so I like that.

The backlight on this watch is fantastic. It also grabs an atomic signal several times during the night instead of once, making it much more reliable than previous versions.

I bought this G-Shock to replace my (still running!) 15 year old G-Shock watch. While the old unit still runs, I found that the protective rubber that encases the electronics of the watch was starting to fall apart, so the watch is essentially exposed now. It still looks like it could take a beating, but there are exposed metal rivets that keep on snagging on things. Those rivets tend to get caught in your sleeves and will start to tear the fabric over repeated wearings, so I finally gave in, and bought this new model.
Of course the new model is just as G-Shock tough as my old unit, and Id expect no less. But in the world of electronics, 15 years is a long time, and this new watch eclipses the old one with its new features.
First, the solar charging is awesome. You can put it out in the sun for about 10 minutes, and that charge is long enough to last a week. Keep in mind when you first get it, youll probably need to charge it for a bit longer though, probably 45 minutes to an hour.
Even better, this thing synchronizes with the atomic clock in Colorado (forgot the name, the main amazon product page has it though) so its super accurate. The synchronization is the reason that you have to keep this unit fully charged, though. To preserve battery life, once the battery reaches 50% capacity or less, it will no longer attempt to synch. With my old watch, I always knew that it the time wasnt 100% accurate, and I took the time it indicated with a grain of salt. With this guy, when I look at the time, I know that its right to within millisconds.
There are a lot of neat other features that this watch has that the old one didnt have as well. For instance, you can set the backlight to automatically light up, depending on the angle of your wrist, without having to press a button. More gimmicky than necessary, but its fun to show off to friends.
All in all, for the price of the purchase, the watch is well worth it, especially considering that I expect it to last me at least as long as my old G-Shock watch!

Watch works as advertised. Synchronization keeps it accurate. Easy to read display. Took 1 star off because I think the watch will last longer than the band.... then what.
Overall it looks good, and is probably a good rugged watch

Casio should pay me a commission for saying this but to the reviewers whose watches quite working after a year or more, the owners manual clearly states that solar battery wears out and needs to be replaced. Mine worked fine for over 2 years

I absolutely love this watch like none before it. Lets face it... watches are nothing to get excited about. But it is such a comfort to know that this watch is always accurate. If you travel a lot, like I do, then being able to check into Southwest Air right at the stroke of the check-in window gets you a much better seat. The watch is great looking and I wear it all of the time unless doing something that might damage it. I have also already taken it to 70 feet scuba diving with no hint of fogging.
