It functions properly, and makes my desk look clean, since it has no wires. The keyboard uses 4x AA batteries. I like the design of this keyboard better than the newer and skinnier Apple keyboards because this keyboard seems easier to type with for extended periods of time. I havent actually used the newer Apple skinnier keyboards for much longer than a few minutes of testing them at the Apple store, but just from those few minutes, I determined that those newer keyboards are harder to type with... or at least they are for me. I suppose they may take a learning curve to get used to. However, having used this keyboard for approximately two years now, I have been very pleased with it. I do find that my keyboard cannot last more than 5-7 days without having to be recharged, but that may be due to my sub-par rechargeable batteries (Duracell Rechargeable Batteries). Another downfall to the keyboard is that the perimeter of the keyboard below the keys is exposed with a clear plastic, so you can see all of the dust and dirt that falls into the crevices of the keys and gets collected, which looks sort of tacky. Of course you can pull all the keys off to clean, but removing each key takes significant effort and is difficult to put back into place. The keyboard is very sturdy and durable though. One time I spilt a cup of water all over it, and I was worried that I had fried it for good. However, in just a few days the keyboard went back to functioning normal. Overall, I would certainly recommend this keyboard, although I believe the only place you can buy it nowadays is through a seller on eBay. by: Mark on Friday, 4-September-2009 Currently 4/5 Stars. by: K. Han (LA, CA USA) on Tuesday, 24-February-2009 Nevertheless of the sharp and futuristic design of aluminum apple thin-keyboards, this full scale old-school type keyboard is still needed by MIDI composer, Photoshop editors, writers... who depends on tons of shortcuts. Personally, I use more often than some of my midi controllers button like PLAY, RECORD, FF, FW. Battery cycle is about 3 months even if itd turned on always. Blutooth is connected very quickly in Leopard 10.5.6. And if you install SizzlingKeys (its freeware), you can control itunes with function keys also. I might have to say it needs to be cleaned occasionally, because of tiny gaps between transparent cover and key caps. Yes, its annoying sometimes, but it keeps my edit environment clean both. by: K. It is also very sturdy and the batteries last a long time. It is weightier than the new one but for those of us who like to use it on our laps that is not a bad thing. Unlike most wireless keyboards that connect thru USB this connects to your computer thru the built-in mac bluetooth. It is awesome. Frees up a usb port which are limited on my mac mini (only 2). No dropouts or loss of signal observed so far. Very responsive. The keys on this board seem smaller than typical keyboards Ive used on all my windows machines. A little mushy feeling, but it works. I dont type a lot so I dont how comfortable it would be for extended use, but it works great for what I need - a bluetooth keyboard.
